Can I start today over?
My son has been really physically agressive lately, which we haven't seen in a long time. (He's an Aspie and ADHD, on meds) Last night, he went off on me while my husband was gone, that was fun.

This morning, I look out at the bus stop and see him chasing his sister. So, I head out there. One of his friends made a comment that he was in trouble now, and my child wailed on his friend. I got them apart three or four times, but eventually they were rolling around in the grass. I got my child by the arm, then realized that the friend was now having an asthma attack and his inhaler was at his house.

The bus was showing up by that point, so I herded all three kids to my house, then took the other boy to his house for his inhaler. His mom hadn't left for work yet, and I explained to her what happened. He got the inhaler, and she was asking him why in the world he was fighting. I explained that he was only defending himself, that my kid was the aggressor, completely. His breathing returned to normal and I took all three kids to school.

I sent e-mails to both of my child's teachers and the school counselor, asking them to be aware that he's flipping on a dime right now, and I don't know why. I have a call in to the doc to see if she thinks we need to change meds, and a call in to the therapist as well.

I'd like to go back to bed now and start this day over, like all of that never happened.

12. Well, I did get an e-mail back from his homeroom teacher
She said that all was well while she had him today. That's a good thing!

14. I don't know
He's been pretty tightly wound for a couple of weeks. Could have been the anticipation of the start of school, then the actual start, but somehow it doesn't seem like that.

5. OK...
1. I e-mailed the school so that they would be aware. There are staff members who know how to diffuse the situation and properly restrain him when he's out of control. I've been begging the teachers for a meeting since before school started, but it hasn't happened yet. They need to know how to deal with him.

2. The only medication he is on is for ADHD - to help him focus at school and attempt to give him some impulse control. He's not on 50 different meds. He takes one pill every morning. I'm not asking for more meds, but as kids grow, sometimes the ADHD meds have to be changed.

3. He's not angry with my husband and myself. Part of being an Aspie is not relating to people properly. (The full name is Asperger's Syndrome - it's high functioning autism.

I'm not heavily medicating him, nor am I heavily blaming him. I did want the other child's mother to know that her child was not the aggressor, he was only defending himself. I'm not even considering sending him to a residential facility or boot camp. He's made wonderful progress the last couple of years, and he's just having a bad day today, which I felt the need to vent about.

9. Also with respect:
how you deal with your child's medical and emotional needs is your business. If you care what a child-free individual thinks--it sounds like you're doing fine, (good parent!) and he is just having a bad day. Sometimes kids without the needs your child has act out like your son did today. Yes, I think you should totally start today over: here, have a do-over. ::waves hour-glass thing that Hermione uses so she can take three classes at once::

6. We're coming up on the full moon
Whether or not that has anything to do with anything, it's always a good excuse. Try to get a bit of downtime before you have to retrieve the kiddos.

As to post #4:

I have until 4:15 when the bus drops them off to recover.

Oh yeah, definitely.
