A country song.
This Is God
Phil Vassar
Written by Phil Vassar

Hey, this is God,
Could I please have your attention?
There's a need for intervention,
Yeah, an' I'm disappointed in what I'm seein'.

Yeah, this is God:
You fight each other in my name.
Treat life like it's a foolish game.
Well, I say, you've got the wrong idea.

Oh, all I'm asking for is love.
Well, I've seen you hurt yourselves enough.
Oh, I been waitin' on a change in you.

Yeah, this is God:
I've given everything to you.
Whoa, but look at what you do,
To the world that I created.

This is God:
And what's with this attitude and hate?
You've grow more ignorant with age.
You had agreed: now look at all you've wasted.

Oh, all I'm asking for is love.
Well, I've seen you hurt yourselves enough.
Oh, I been waitin' on a change in you.

I know your every card,
Your heart and soul and every move.
There are so many consequences to the things you do.

Oh, all I'm asking for is love.
Haven't you hurt yourselves enough?
Oh, I been waitin' on a change in you.
A change in you.

Oh, this is God.

1. I happen to love country music
But only the older stuff. The new stuff is soft rock with a twang added.

2. Reminds me of Bette Middler's
recording of "From a Distance".

From a distance the world looks blue and green,
And the snow-capped mountains white
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
And the eagle takes to flight
From a distance, there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
It's the voice of every man
From a distance we all have enough,
And no one is in need
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
No hungry mouths to feed
From a distance we are instruments
Marching in a common band
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace
They're the songs of every man
God is watching us, God is watching us
God is watching us from a distance
From a distance you look like my friend,
Even though we are at war
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
what all this fighting is for
From a distance there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land
And it's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves,
it's the heart of every man
It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves
This is the song of every man
And God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching
God is watching us from a distance
