eat some pie or something.
None of those people look like they have what it takes to front a has been band like INXS and bring it back from the dead (ugh, really bad, bad pun)--but the show is entertaining.
And I want JD to win.

Plus Beatles-esque ballads. Their major influences are The Beatles, T. Rex, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, The Jam, The Stone Roses, and the Happy Mondays. They pretty much stick to that formula - Beatles-esque ballads and T.Rex-style rockers. They actually have a fairly big overlapping fanbase with U2. They're actually the biggest English band since the Beatles in their homeland and in Ireland, as well as being very popular in Europe, Japan, and South America.
In the US they've never had a huge following, however their 1995 album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" did become a big hit here. Their big hits were "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova."
Their critical/commercial peak was between 1994 and 1997, since then most of their albums have been pretty poorly received and their reviews haven't been great since. However, their debut is often considered one of the best albums of the 1990s. And their most recent album was quite good and got good reviews.
Because the two brothers who lead the group are extremely obnoxious and like to wind people up with shallow boasts (they've admitted in interviews they're just bluffing) and becuase they were hyped to the moon, people tend to either love 'em or hate 'em. And they're despised in many corners because their music is NOT, by definition, experimental or ground-breaking. They're pretty much a very good traditional rock band, but not pathfinders or visionaries.

I fought the Oasis v. Blur war. I fought the Oasis v. Beatles war.
I am a veteran of a thousand music wars. Today, I lay down my gun.
Khash, some Oasis sucks guy.

13. How many albums has each sold....which one is in the hall of fame... |
|
I'm just saying.
A comparison is just....sigh.
But then, there was a long running issue of the Beatles vs. Oasis, so I guess this is okay. :)
