Somebody give this guy a bar of soap and some instructions!!! |
|
I work with him, and he was always the creep. If you stare at people relentlessly, you'll know who you are, if you block their exits, ditto, but I'm not even talking about those facets of his personality.
Just a bath. He may be "suffering from depression", but he's not the kind of guy I would EVER have sympathy for. Let it go for two weeks, and you have that fine sap of oily unwashed hair. Don't take a little cat-bath at work, where I happen to know there's soap and water available, and you get the kind of BO that stings our eyes even outside, with a 20 mile gust.
Today he left a wake of his smell, and it actually got into my clothes and stayed there.
Jesus. Was it my day, finally, to confront my boss about something as stupid as that? And why is he still working here?

1. OK - we've gone beyond the odor issue, now we're into behavior issues. |

The staring and exit-blocking can be construed as creating a hostile environment. I'd call HR and start documenting everything.
Edited - changed a word

4. Hey, sweetheart. Regrettably, that went unnoticed |
|
by management, because there was no "evidence". I looked this all up and found that staring & blocking exits is harrassment, legally recognized in 1993, but it's too vague.
Smelling like the seedy underbelly of hell, though?

5. I think you need to find other co-workers willing to go on the record. |
|
If your employer does nothing, then I'd mosey on over to the state dept. of labor or the EEOC.
One person is easy to ignore, several people, not as much.

I do have another woman who has been "brushed by" by our dear friend, and can attest to the fact that he smells EXACTLY like shit.

turned out his wife kicked him out of the house and he was homeless. He doesn't happen to look like the Milton from 'Office Space' would he?

6. Milton from "Office Space" is suave |
|
compared to this guy. Have you ever seen "King of the Hill"? This guy talks like Boomhauer. I hate "King of the Hill" because it hits so close to home sometimes.

But it won't wash, excuse the pun, in most jobs.
I thought after that, his obscene and horrible smell would get him fired. Gawd. One never knows, does one?
