1. I love Brubeck.
I really love Paul Desmond.

"Time Out" is one of my desert island discs. My dad always called it "Take Five" when I was growing up.

3. Yeah, Desmond could do it...
... but I read that he was really twisted up at the thought of playing "Take Five" for the album. He had a real case of the sweats trying to do that time signature without making it sound lifeless (and, he was very sick with cancer at the time, as well). But, I think he did get it right, after all.
