Never thought a movie would literally put me to sleep...
but Johnny Mnemonic. Well, it did it. And I think that Keanu is major hot.

Tell me a movie that had Ambien-like effects on you.

Great film, fast paced, decent script and plot... go figure. Whad'ya think of Lord of the Rings?

14. LOTR is alright...
I've only seen Fellowship of the Ring, which I enjoyed when it first came out, but the more I watched it (I've seen it maybe 5 times) the less I enjoyed it. Never bothered with the other two. Just no interest.

Titanic, however, is one of my most hated films of all time. It just causes this really visceral hatred.

15. ANy idea why?
I mean, it was highly acclaimed, won a lot of Oscars, and was voted by a lot of people who vote on such things one of the best films of all time. Interestingly, it seems to have faded with time.

I loved it, so I'm interested in why others seem to hate it. When I say "love", btw, I don't mean I think it's brilliant, subtle, or earth-shakingly introspective or original. Just that it kept my interest for the whole film, made me like the characters, and gave me a little insight into the world by the end.

other than MAYBE "Coming to America."

"I'm King of the World!" Titanic was a bad, bad, bad, bad movie.

Then again, some people found them interesting.

I was out like a light 15 minutes in, and afterward she was so glad. She said that the movie scared the bejeezus out of her, so she was happy I didn't stay awake through the bad parts.

As for a movie putting me to sleep out of boredom? I can't think of one offhand.

36. It was even worse. Not one of them was even as interesting as normal
Poor Keifer. They treated him like he lost a bet. Rufus is flat on his best days, but a good script can make him seem quietly intense. No go hear. I don't even remember who William Hurt played, he was so forgettable, and I'm sure it was a major character.

The movie is proof that an interesting scenario does not mean that a good plot and script are unnecessary. They redid the same basic idea in The Matrix, with much better results.

24. That movie about that guy ...

...who did all the martial arts stuff in some movies.

Some guy named Bruce.

I saw this in the theater when it came out, having been forced to go by some friends, and I literally had drool running down my cheek after I passed out from boredom. I hate martial arts movies. Bruce Lee may well be a brilliant, wonderful person, but this movie did little to make me care at all about that.

30. i remember one time i had a really hot date
and I took her to see "Eyes Wide Shut" (there was a LOT of controversy about the film at that time, with all of the talk of the sex scenes)....I took her to the movie thinking it would get her in the proper, ummm...'mindset' for afterwards....

Well, as you know, the movie which will be known as Kubrick's last great joke to us was a 3+ hour colossal bore, and all of the best softcore stuff was left on the cutting room floor...and my date was completely comatose well before the second hour (and i got nowhere with her that night)

There must be some other awful films I'm forgetting, but right now, I'd say Eyes Wide Shut is the worst film ever made--just because it was made so seriously. At least with a Porky's, you're not being tricked into thinking it's going to be a great piece of cinema because of the talent attached.

It was sooooooooooooo bad on so many levels.

32. If you thought Jonny Mnemonic was bad
you obviously haven't seen Keanu's latest stink fest, Constantine. I have yet to see him give a good performance and hope he doesn't ruin Richard Linklater's adaptation of Philip K. Dick's "A Scanner Darkly."

As for LOTR, I did the Extended Edition Marathon in January (about 12 hours with little breaks in between films) and loved every second of it.

The first 15 to 20 minutes were interesting but after that it was just a one-note tune, the same thing over and over until the end. It's the only movie I've ever seriously considered walking out on. Sorry to any fans of this movie but, although I'm a big fan of fantasy, horror, and the like, it just didn't have a story.

At the theatre, that's the only one that ever put me to sleep. (For ten minutes or so...) And it wasn't because I thought it was bad, but just 'cause I was at a 10 o'clock showing and I had only slept for an hour the night before. It was an alright movie IMHO, though I liked the second one more.

I'm pretty sure Lost in Translation would have put me to sleep if I had seen it at the theatre. Luckily, I saw it as a rental at my sister's house and our similar taste in movies allowed us to stop paying attention after about 30 minutes into it and talk/make fun of the rest of it!
