It is now officially 30 days before I can drive again! |
|
I'm in the home stretch now, baby!
It's been 9 years and 11 months since I was last able to (fully) drive. I was able to drive for work releated situations, but since I work for Truthout from my home there's really not many chances that fit "work related" to be able to drive that much.
In case you are wondering: I was a very, very bad twentysomething. Luckily the only person who got hurt by my actions was me (and mom, who has been driving me around).
So...let the countdown start!
On Dec 10th, I'm back on the streets!
WOO HOO!

Obviously a huge hassle. But, did you find it liberating in any way? Become dependent on public transpo - meet new friends on the bus. Serious question. I have such a dependence on my car, used some public transportation when in the big city - am now rural and have no options but to drive. In my younger, foolish years dreaded that I would one day lose my right to drive, foudn the cure for that fear - doh.
Congrats!

with severe manic depression, I really didn't get out much, and I had no reason to leave the house.
And then the election of 2000 hit. My health had already been improving at that point, so I started doing more and more work on the net until I actually got a job on the net.
So...I guess my case is sort of atypical.

you are doing better. Sorry to drag you through that again, I had read something about your history before, but had forgotten. Glad to hear things have improved AND you get the wheels back! Make sure and still find time to post - don't just joy ride!
