At the Stoughton Country Club, the roof was sucked off the building. Lenny Peaslee, head chef, crouched behind the bar in the basement, where about 40 people waited out the storm.

"We saw stuff flying and basically buried our heads," said Peaslee, who was cooking steaks when somebody shouted to get in the basement. He said some guys grabbed their beers as they raced down the stairs.

"They thought it might be their last one," he said. "They wanted to have one in hand."

15. c'est la V!
Tornadoes in Richland County? Inconceivable! They do not even have T-storms there. Too many ridges. Of course, just before I moved, in 1998, something ripped through Hub City and knocked over 3 large trees, tearing up the sod.

16. Since living in NY for the past 20 or more years
I miss thunderstorms, tornadoes and the like.
Lost the roof off our house when I was about 8... fucking sound was awesome.
Snap

SNAP
as the joists broke

then whoooooosh, and it was gone. Just gone.

about 10 seconds later the funnel lifted up about 100 feet and passed right overhead. It was like sticking your head in a vacuum cleaner that was run with a westinghouse jet engine!
