$4.68 for a double latte?! |
|
Allow me to be a shallow, insular American for a little bit.
The last time I bought a double latte from the tiny coffee stand in the hotel lobby (I park under the hotel), it was $3.03.
Today it was $4.68.
:wtf:
Thank you.
This shallow, insular American moment was brought to you by Espresso Blood Products(TM).

3. Imagine if you bought one of those everyday before work |
|
We'll even be generous and make it a $3.50 Latte
Imagine I get one everyday before I go to work
That's $17.50/week
Now imagine I do that every week for a year (minus 2 weeks vacation)
That's $875/year just so I can have my designer coffee brand latte
That's why I buy a box of green tea a month:
20 bags/box at $3.00 a box (Salada Green tea with Antioxidants)
That's $36/years for my caffeine fix
Better yet - just drink the coffee they have for free at your office.

6. That's why I got one of those Senseo "pod" coffee makers. |
|
It's perfect for me at home. I usually do drink the coffee at work. I wanted espresso this morning.
I know people who buy a designer coffee every morning. It boggles the mind.

He commutes into NYC several times a week, and really likes Starbucks. He buys himself a latte every day.
If I were commuting, I might do the same. I really, really like Starbucks.

making a pot of coffee at home, putting it into an insulated travel cup, and putting that three or four dollars a day to better use? Even at $3--thats $15 a week--$60 a month!

15. I didn't mean it as a lecture. |
|
I consider a treat as something I get now and then. Spending that much every day, on something that shouldn't cost half of what is charged for it, makes it an expensive habit.

The mark up is absurd compared to home brewed drinks. Plus vendors like Starbucks make shit that tastes like burnt tobacco spit.
