Ah, pot plants. Reminds me of the story of my missed trust fund. |
|
About 15 years ago, my parents bought a large chunk of land that had been in bankruptcy/foreclosure, something like that. It was a 160 acre beginning of a valley, and they bought the slopes as well as the land inside. So, from peak to peak it was theirs - and of course, also from peak to peak, it belonged to the former owners.
So this means, of course, it is very secluded - it was a mile off a barely used county highway, getting to it only by gravel road.
So the parents buy it, and then on a walking tour land inspection, come across what could have been my trust fund allowing me never to work again - a couple acres of wildly growing marijuana, tall as houses my parents said. HUGE, they said.
Took the county guys a couple dump trucks to load it all out.
Let's say that again, because it's fun: A COUPLE DUMP TRUCKS to load it all out.
Yes indeed, a couple dump trucks of marijuana plants as tall as a house.
Could have paid for the parent's land, paid for the house they built on it, and set me up with a trust fund that I would never have to work again.
But no, they gave it all to the county.

7. The next year, about 20% of it regrew, and had to be hauled out, too |
|
And that was the end of it.

made some rope, or good tomato stakes, but high? I don't think so. Hope that makes you feel better. But now you know where to plant in the future! :)

9. When I was a kid, our neighbors grew it in their backyard |

and in planters on the porch. The police raided their house when the dad in the home raided a dealer of harder substances' home and held him up at gunpoint. A few days later, the police burned down the tall grass section of their yard where they were doing the growing. I was in 2nd grade, and we used to play back there and we never knew what it was until years later.
The raid happened at 3:00 in the morning, too. My window faced their house. As Kentwood at the time probably had a police force of about 15 officers, they were accompanied by the Kent County Sheriff's office. It was pretty exciting for an 8 year old to witness.
