MOHITO's for everyone!!!!!!!!!!
Man is this an awesome drink. my wife loves them now more than me ( not really but it's pretty close). If mixed right (I didn't know bitters were in them) it tastes like a limeade and you can get seriously wasted, as my wife told a waiter the next day "I had FOOOOUR!". She's not much of a drinker.

Enjoy

1. Lime Juice (1 whole lime equals about 3 teaspoons) or use limejuice from

concentrate.

2. Sugar (2 heaping teaspoons) (Actually squeezed sugar cane is best)

3. Mint Leaves (freshest are the best!) You need about

4. Four to Five mint leaves per drink. (3 for mashing and 2 for garnish at the end)

5. Bicardi Limon (clear) Rum (2 oz)

6. Angostura Bitters (dash)

7. Ice

8. Club Soda (2/3 cup)

9. Straws (the green ones with the accordion top are cool)

10. A few mint leaves and one lime slice (for garnish)

2. I LOVE Mojitos!!
Never knew about the bitters - will try next time. I use many more mint leaves and smash with Splenda instead of sugar. Also prefer half a lime squeezed if I have it instead of bottled lime juice - I leave the lime section in the drink as well. The best reason to open up Cuba - I want to go there and try theirs - it is their national drink, you know. Also a favorite of Hemingway's while he was there.

4. Oh definitely a half a lime not juice
Yeah I didn't see any bitters in them until the last place we went on Saturday. I doesn't need the bitters and any clear rum will do.

The national drink you say??!?!?!?

8. Yes, most people think that
it is the Cuba Libre (Rum and Coke) - but it really is the Mojito. Talked to a Cuban bartender who verified this bit of trivia and remembered making them by the drum full. However, he did not use bitters that I knew of.

Glommed onto them a few years ago - most Anglo bartenders have to consult their cheat sheets and thenm come back saying they don'[t have any mint. But have noticed in the last year or so that mojitos are listed on more drink lists.

:grr:
Don't call that a Mojito.
:hi:

On edit: And try to crush a lime in the glass (like Caipirinha) - the peel replaces the bitter then. That's not Cuban style, but works out really well.

7. Call me a party pooper...
But I had one of those at a Cuban restaurant in Denver this past week, and I hated it. I don't know what it was about the drink, but the mint and rum didn't hit the spot.

I'll just take a beer....
