Fire Fox Settings / Help
Awhile back, someone posted firefox beef up stuff, and i did all the stuff to firefox. I'm afraid to update because I dont want to lose those settings.

Does anyone have the link to fire fox settings, where you speed it up, etc. so i can upgrade then redo the settings.

2. If I'm understanding you correctly...
You're updating Firefox (most likely to 1.05)?

If so, your current settings and add-ins will be preserved when you update it.

At least mine were.

8. As it gets more popular, more hackers are probing it
1.05 was released in response to a vunerability.

I still prefer it over the still very buggy IE.

9. Me, too.
I never use IE. If I have to fill out a form or open a web page that requires the use of IE, I use Maxthon (formerly MyIE2), which uses the IE engine, but with tabbed browsing, etc.

99% of the time, I use Firefox.

3. You shouldn't lose any of your settings if you are simply updating to a
newer version, as all of your settings, themes, and extensions will be saved in your user profile folder. To find your user profile folder (if you are using Windows XP) click Start > Run > then type in %AppData% .Your profile folder will be the Mozilla folder.

Here are the settings to speed up Firefox:

Type about:config in address box and press Enter.

Change:

network.http.max-connections: 48 (24)

network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24 (8)

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12 (4)

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6 (2)

network.http.pipelining: true

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 32 (4)

network.http.proxy.pipelining: true

Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Also I use a free program called FireTune, available HERE which applies all of the above settings without having to modify individual settings using about:config.

Finally, I use THIS AD-BLOCKING SCRIPT which has eliminated all pop-up, -under, and banner ads. I do not even have the Ad-Block extension installed!

I hope this helps! :)

7. I don't know exactly, but if you search "Firefox Tweeks" in...
...the open-source forum, that's where it was, I just don't remember how long ago.
