...a very important holiday! Well, at least to the Marines. Steak & cake for everybody! I started the day off with a proper celebration, & made geniph late for work :evilgrin:

I hope those poor souls in Iraq have a moment of peace today to enjoy their celebration.

My kids' dad was there in 69-70, can't recall where, tho. I think he was in First Recon, Bravo Company. Or something like that. Got a Purple Heart for getting shot in the leg. I used to tease him about it being a self-inflicted wound! He said that there were times when he was so miserable that he probably could have shot his foot, in order to get away for awhile!

But he volunteered to go - so many were trying to get out of going, but he was pissed that he didn't get a football scholarship to Pitt, so he goes and joins the Marines!

I once caught my son playing with dog poo. I asked him what he thought he was doing. He said he was making an airman. I was shocked! I asked why he didn't make a Marine instead. He looked me straight in the eye and said, "CAUSE I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SHIT!"
