...a very important holiday! Well, at least to the Marines. Steak & cake for everybody! I started the day off with a proper celebration, & made geniph late for work

I hope those poor souls in Iraq have a moment of peace today to enjoy their celebration.

4. Were you in Nam?
My kids' dad was there in 69-70, can't recall where, tho. I think he was in First Recon, Bravo Company. Or something like that. Got a Purple Heart for getting shot in the leg. I used to tease him about it being a self-inflicted wound! He said that there were times when he was so miserable that he probably could have shot his foot, in order to get away for awhile!

But he volunteered to go - so many were trying to get out of going, but he was pissed that he didn't get a football scholarship to Pitt, so he goes and joins the Marines!

12. Yes, he was in Vietnam
Crew chief of a tank retriever, 3rd Marines. (I'm only answering for him because I gave him shit for being at the computer earlier instead of laying tile on our fireplace hearth!)

10. Happy Birthday to all the Grunts!!!!!
Sailor standing at a bar to the person next to him:''Wanna hear a MARINE joke?''

The guy next to him replies, ''Well, before you tell that joke, you should know something. I'm 6' tall, 200 lbs, and I'm a MARINE. The guy sitting next to me is 6'2'' tall, weighs 225, and he's a MARINE. The fella next to him is 6'5'' tall, weighs 250, and he's also a MARINE. Now, you still wanna tell that joke?''

Sailor: ''Nah, I don't want to have to explain it three times.''

19. That's a great one! Here's another...
A Air Force officer and a Marine are both using urinals in a men's head. The Marine finishes first and walks to the door.
"WAIT," booms the zoomie, "In the Air Force they taught us to wash our hands after going to the bathroom."
"That's okay sir, see in the Marine Corps they taught us not to piss on our hands."

16. From a USAF veteran
I once caught my son playing with dog poo. I asked him what he thought he was doing. He said he was making an airman. I was shocked! I asked why he didn't make a Marine instead. He looked me straight in the eye and said, "CAUSE I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SHIT!"
