Peas
I love peas. But where are peas in the grand scheme of things?

Peanut butter is not from peas. There is no pea flour. There are no pea tortillas. No pea salad. No pea sandwich.

Peas are healthy. But where is pea milk? Where is pea bread?

Something is wrong because I love peas but the only option I have is to eat, well, peas.

Where is Haagen Dazs Pea Ice Cream when I am wondering about it, and why?

6. English peas, with chopped boiled eggs, onions, and Miracle whip...
A dash of salt and black pepper and I'm good to go.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it no matter how wrong I am.

B-)

11. Why must you insist on defining a salad
by its most homely componenent? Calling this fine assemblage a "pasta salad" denies it the justice which is its birthright.

you'd get your fill of pasta pretty dang quick. It's the "chicken fried" of southern Switzerland. ;)

34. I actually have been wanting to ask you about that, Heidi.
What is in the stores/markets there? I'm curious about that. I hope it is all good.

I mean, do you get Shredded Wheat, peanut butter, good beef, or what?

:)

35. Two funny stories.
Check this out. When I first moved here and went grocery shopping for the first time, I came home totally grossed out, and asked my mother-in-law, "Who buys tomato and mayonnaise flavored toothpaste?!?!?" (I didn't know that many condiments here are available in a tube.)

Another time, we were having a big family dinner with Mr. Heidi's family, and the "mystery meat" was served. Being adamant in my refusal to eat any animal that I consider "domestic," I asked my mother-in-law, "What's the meat?" She replied, in German, "Schwein," which I misunderstood to mean, "Swan." :puke: I was OK after I learned it was pork. :eyes:

Yeah, grocery stores here do have good meat, including beef, veal, pork, lamb, turkey and chicken (which I sometimes eat), as well as rabbit, horse and "wild" (which can be anything wild) which I _do not_ eat.

As usual . . .
my mother is late with her "summer care package from home," so my pea salads this summer have contained neither Miracle Whip nor Ranch dressing.

28. When my son visits
He has 2 requests. Creamed peas on toast, and for breakfast sausage gravy and homemade biscuits.

Creamed peas were so EASY to make and so good made with fresh from the garden peas. I always chopped hard boiled eggs into them.

so YUMMY!!

:hi: Peggy, good to see you :)
