OWW! My neck - I can't move my neck |
|
This happens to me every once in awhile. The muscles on one side of my neck lock up and I can't move it. If I move it by accident it hurts worse and locks up worse.
It's been like that for a few days.
Yesterday, the kids invited me to go toboganning.
The only known fix is to go to the chiropractor and have him hook up the muscle stimulating thingie to try and make them relax. (I tried booze already).
I don't have the $30 bucks.

1. Fray an electrical wire |
|
Plug it into the wall, and voila! Instant muscle stimulator.
Since you live in Canada, can't you get affordable health care and get that taken care of? Sounds like a muscle disorder of some sort.

2. That happened to me once |
|
I got really sick of looking like frickin' Frankenstein!
(ie - having to move my whole body rather than just turn my head to look somewhere...)

My doc taught me how to do this.
1) Place your palm against the cheek on the side you are having problems with. 2) Gently try to move your head against the pressure of your palm for a few seconds. 3) using your other hand to gently push your head in the same direction 4) Repeat
Also use ice on your neck.
I had a situation where my neck locked up in every direction. Doing those exercises successfully tired out the muscles and had me nearly pain free in 12 hours.

5. Doctor tried that one time |
|
First time it happened, went to the doctor and he didn't seem to believe me that I couldn't move my neck. The left side was locked up. He held my chin and manipulated my head a bit, then without warning, moved it sharply to the left.
I fainted and he barely caught me in time.

7. There is no sharp movement with this! |
|
Gentle pressure only. You only push until there is slight pain, hold, then release, then press from the other side to stretch the muscle.

Hey--
Just had a free treatment from a massage therapist for this, and it worked great. If that isn't an option, try heat. I've found that sleeping on a heating pad, or using one of those snake-in-the-microwave neck thingies, can help loosen up the tight muscles.
Good luck!

Try.....filling a plastic baggie with hot water and place it on your neck for a while and lie down.

10. I've got this neckwrap thingie |
|
that you put in the microwave and then wrap around your neck. It helps a lot (I've had whiplash three times, and my neck muscles are shit, so I have a lot of neck pain). It helps.
Flexeril helps more, though. So does Oxycontin - somebody call up Rushbo!
