My Sin City review
I watched it last night. I've never thought highly of R. Rodriguez, and thing his Mariachi repeats - not sequels - repeats are a joke.

That being said, the cinematography was pretty cool, it was a spiffy way to make it like a live-action comic books.

As far as the substance goes - unimpressive. Brutality for the sake of brutality - and after all the hype it left me wondering what the big fucking deal was.

A few short stories, somewhat linked, ho hum.

1. Agreed...it was more about atmospherics, but...
I did find myself caring about the characters more than I expected to. Bruce Willis's character was especially sympathetic, I thought, and I enjoyed Mickey Rourke's over-the-top performance, too. I'd love to see more movies made using whatever cinematographic techniques were employed. I've no idea what it's called.

5. There were no real sets in "Sin City"
The movie was shot entirely on green screens and then the world around the actors was digitally created. Lucas came close to doing that with the Prequel Trilogy but there were some real locations used. I'm pretty sure Rodriguez's other 2005 release "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3-D" was shot this way. I'm sure he's planning on shooting the two sequels to "Sin City" this way. I'm not sure what other filmmakers will employ this technique.
