Hardware question! Sound controller woes. |
|
A few days ago I noticed noise from my PC when I moved the mouse pointer about. I didn't think too much about it at the time. Now I'm getting nasty popping noises out of it - like when you unplug a jack, forgetting to turn the amp off first. This happens pretty when the computer does anything at all.
Is my sound controller on the way out, do you think? I ask because a new PCI sound card is no big deal to get, but I don't want to spend 30 quid on one to find that it wasn't the problem after all.

1. Could be your mouse has gone bad. Unplug it and try another mouse. |

Had that exact thing happen to me last month. I had to find my old "track ball mouse" that I'd retired. My old track ball has been working fine so far with no more noise.
I thought it was my sound card, hard drive, modem...all that. But, a friend said they thought it was my Mouse. And it was.

2. Thanks - easy enough to test. |

I'll give that a go in a bit. :)
