I'm getting a tarot reading today...
:D

Should be interesting, I went to this lady before and man, she was pretty darn good.

Have some interesting questions for her, can't hurt to ask them. :)

1. are you preparing for it?
I've found that if you go in with a calm and even breath, the reading can come easier. May the reading be enlightening for you.

3. Consider
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 11:30 AM by stellanoir
making a list of your questions because for some, it's similar to going to a doctor in that often some can't remember their symptoms until they're on their way home, and wonder, "why didn't I ask about this, why didn't I act about that?"

I'm a reader and this happens more than one would expect and lists of questions really expedite the reading and often lends greater focus.

Hope you have a great one.

4. I have a few in mind
Yes, I will write them down, plus I always bring a notepad and pen to record my reading.
This reader is so cool. :) It blows my mind how accurate she can be!

5. I'd love to find a good reader.

But how does one find the "real thing" among the charlatans without getting ripped off a few times first?

6. Keep asking.
I was lucky enough to find a woman years ago; and then I took a class on tarot she taught (only me and 4 freinds--so cool!) Go to your local pagan friendly store and ask around. Of course you still run the risk; but they are more likely to be genuine than those that advertise liberally in the papers and such. My lady operated by word of mouth only and still does.

9. Word of mouth
with a slight caveat. . .no reader can read for everyone.

For the same reason that a waitress can be wonderfully charming with one table and a "bitch on wheels" with the next, no one can read everyone for a holy host of reasons.

I can be nearly totally spot on with one person and their best friend will have the energetic equivalent of the Great Wall of China around them and I'll get squat.

On the incredibly rare occasion that happens, I don't charge them and often refer them to another reader which has varying results.

But yeah, you've always got to keep your BS detector set to "maximum stun" in these circumstances.

7. DON'T DO IT!!!!
I did it once, and it ruined my life
:(
Set me on a course for disaster that took years to overcome

Now it's against my religion.

Sorry, just had to say.

10. Sorry you had that experience
the moral of that experience is to never surrender your power to another and never abide by the words of any reader who doesn't emphasize the importance of free will.

Hope you've recovered fully but believe me there are some very ethical and spiritually oriented readers out there.

Against your religion?

Well fine as long as your happy but please don't demonize an entire vocation. There are sleazebuckets in most fields.

I wouldn't have gotten a haircut after age 16 if that weren't true.

I've spent a long while helping kids make better decisions who refused conventional wisdom. It's been extremely spiritually rewarding though not always financially so.

12. Would never, ever, ever, beat on you silly.
Just think that different things work for different people. I worked a fantastic party tonight during which I know in my soul, I helped a lot of kids. They were great.

Maybe let's all try to be slightly more tolerant. It's the cornerstone of most true faiths after all.
