I FOUND IT! I realized a few days ago that I hadn't seen my copy of
"On the Road" for some time. I was convinced that I had left it in a hotel while on vacation, so I purposely didn't want to look for it in my house.

Anyway, I found it! It's like my diary - I have notes all in the margins and passages underlined! I even keep photographs in it - photos which I am now going to scan into my computer in case this happens again.

I didn't read "The Catcher in the Rye" until I was 31 either. Pissed me off, that one did. I thought, people name their kids after THAT asshole? :D

12. Dude - you don't know what you are missing!
The scene where he describes Sal lying on the sofa while Dean and Mary Lou are in the other room!

Dean had every right to die the sweet deaths of complete love of his Mary Lou. I didn't want to interfere, I just wanted to follow.

*swoooooooooon*

14. I'll swing by half-price books today and see if there's a copy.
Maybe I'll get lucky and I can find an annotated version with some pictures in it or something. ;)

I probably shouldn't tell you that I sneaked into your house, borrowed it, and read all of the margin notes. :D

25. They really should make certain books with huge margins for people
to make their notes in because quite frankly, even if you did get a hold of it, you probably wouldn't be able to read my tiny writing. :hi:

22. Cool.
Glad you found it. I must confess not having read it. But I'd love to get a copy. Think I'll wander down to the bookstores later. It'd be nice to at least read about people who actually lived life and not just observed from afar.

That's why it's dog eared and always has a pen stuck in the middle of it.

I guess I am a little weird. :o

on edit: Here's a sample:

Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together; sophistication demands that they submit to sex immediately without proper preliminary talk. Not courting talk - real straight talk about souls, for life is holy and every moment is precious.
