Damn you!
Don't you hate it when you type something out and hit "post message" only to find someone else did the same thing moments before - thereby reducing your post to a complete and total waste of time?

That is important. :)

2. Get him some Pedialyte to replenish his electrolytes
It tastes yucky, but will keep him from getting dehydrated.

3. Or grated fresh ginger into hot water to make a tea.
Gomaschio also helps. Ground roasted sesame & sea salt.

4. An old standby from my Michigan childhood -
Let him sip some room temp ginger ale. (Vernors!)

As for feeding him - if he's that sick, solid food of any sort isn't likely to make him feel better. Whatever you do - stay away from stuff like salad! Saltines can help.

7. My grandfather's remedy
Peel a fresh apple. Scrape the part of the apple next to the peel and feed it to him. It is supposed to settle the stomach and stop the vomiting. Grandfather was an MD (1906-1959), but believed in this remedy.

9. chicken noodle soup (just juice if he can't take the noodles)
Hydrating him is most important. Get him to sip ginger ale or gatorade, not drink it the way he normally would.

11. Strange but True
You wouldn't think Italian food would help with an upset stomach, but Fettuccine Alfredo was the only thing my wife could keep down when she was pregnant. I read somewhere that it was originally created for the same reason, but that may be a Tuscan Legend.

13. Just make sure he stays hydrated.
Water, obviously.

Also, though it's designed for small children, I've heard Pedialyte works well, though there are mixed reactions on how it tastes. You can dilute it if it's really nasty. Still, it'll replace a lot of the electrolytes he's lost.

14. Start out with water, ginger ale, or ice chips.

If tolerated, advance to thicker liquids like broths, soups and gelatins. Then try solid foods like saltine crackers and, finally, a normal diet.

Avoid sugar-free products and milk products.

Watch out for dehydration. Watch urine color and output - dark urine and minimal output is usually associated with the start of dehydration. Drink until urinating every few hours until urine is clear or very light yellow.

Taken directly from my "Telephone Medicine Triage for Primary Care Providers" reference guide!

16. Unless there is a good reason why he needs to eat
It would be better if he didn't eat for a while. He should wait at least a couple of hours after vommitting before trying to eat solid food. After that, the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, tea or toast). I don't know if there are good vegi protein sources that aren't hard on the stomach. If he eats a normal diet regularly though, he should be alright on just that until he feels better.
