Check out this xenophobic racist asshole's letter to the editor:
I leave off his name and location. What a fuckin' dickhead.

Racial Profiling Appropriate:

I first noticed him as we stood in line at the ticket counter; dark complexion, stereotypical facial features, clearly of Middle Eastern descent, wearing a fedora and bending under the weight of his carry-on bag. I pointed him out to my wife and whispered my hope that he would be “thoroughly checked out” by security (he wasn’t) and that he wouldn’t be on our flight.

An hour later we sat awaiting takeoff with an open seat beside us. I joked about the possibility of him being our row-mate, just before he came down the aisle and took our empty seat. We smiled at each other but exchanged no pleasantries. Rather than use the upper storage he carefully tucked his carry-on under his seat. As he buckled in I quickly checked out his shoes for any visible fuses.

Perhaps a little small talk would ease my concerns. I asked where he was from. In perfect English he said his name was Adnan and he lived in Minneapolis, but was born and raised in Baghdad. Very comforting.

During the flight I learned he was a teacher and freelance artist heading out to an art show. He proudly showed me some pictures of his work (check it out at www.idrawacrowd.com). We agreed to meet up for the return trip and we greatly enjoyed his company and conversation.

So, does that pleasant experience and outcome mean there should be no racial and ethnic profiling for homeland security? On the contrary, it remains absolutely essential in my opinion. It makes me sad that it has come to this, but my newfound friend never should have been allowed to board without a thorough search. It’s also sad that in this post-Sept. 11 environment and ongoing war on terror we see political correctness still trumping public safety.

1. Wonder how he would have reacted to Timothy McVeigh as a seatmate
Or Ted Kaczynski. As if all terrorists are automatically Middle Eastern. Moran.

2. I wonder how his "new friend" feels about that.
As long as we're using racial profiling on terrorists, let's start profiling people who look like Eric Rudolph or TImothy McVeigh, too.

3. What did they not x-ray his bag
or look at his ticket/passport? Did they wave him past security? I can't even get to the hallway to the gates at the airport anymore - What did the author want a strip search?

5. Well, you know, those politically correct liberals got their way,
and now mid-eastern people don't have to go through any security whatsoever. In fact, the government pays for limos to pick them up at their homes, no questions asked, and drive them straight to the airplane, where they don't even need a ticket, let alone have any of their baggage searched or x-rayed or anything.

Political correctness has made this country unsafe!

Yeah, I don't get it, either. What the fuck?! It's all been x-rayed, he went through a metal detector, blah blah blah. How much fucking more DO we need?

Do we start racial profiling Germans to make sure they don't have any thoughts of invading Poland? Or Frenchmen, to make sure they don't plan on starting an Empire or cutting people's heads off? Or the English, for the same?

Fucking Christ.

8. when I came "home" from Europe
they pawed through my bags (and I felt sorry for the beautiful blond doing it, because my bags were full of dirty laundry) presumably looking for drugs I might have bought in Amsterdam. This was pre 911.

11. You never want to come back from Amsterdam
At a stopover in Newark I got accused of importing drugs and kiddie porn. The fact the airline had lost my luggage was only further proof - I was hiding the evidence.

Khash.

4. Stupidity reigns
Aren't we lucky. These morons are what our young men and women are fighting and dying for. I hope we never go and fight any blue eyed blond nations.

6. My husband "looks Middle Eastern"
especially if he dresses in Indian/Pakistani style clothing. I sort of wish this bozo had met up with him and started talking. He would have had the shock of his life when my husband started talking in his Texas drawl!

10. Yes
He took a tour of India during the 80s and went native. People there tried speaking Urdu to him, and were shocked when he didn't respond. On the way back home to TX, an airline worker asked if it was his first visit to the US. After we were married, I had him dress up in his Indian clothes to attend a party with people with whom I worked, and everyone who wasn't near the table where we sat asked me what country he was from.
