San Diego - HELP! I'M LOST!! |
|
I'm visiting here from out of town. I'm out of Diet Pepsi! Gasp! My folks are out playing cards this morning. Vons is nearby but there was a picket line there. I have their car here and a city map - what stores can I go to that are not on strike? I can look them up in the phone book.

1. The pickets have been taken off Ralphs, so that people have some choice |
|
other than Trader Joes, the mom'n'pops, and the 7-11's. Gotta be a Ralphs near you; they're everywhere. Wouldn't want you lost......

They're selling 2 liter name brands 6 for $6.99. Any of the number of independant BIG grocers or Mercados are selling 2-liters for 4 for $5. Look for various "International Foods" stores - which are usually like your typical "dollar" stores. Savon Drugs. Rite-Aid Drugs. Average for a 2-liter at the drug stores is around $1.69 - $2. 7-11 - the convienience store isn't too expensive for a 2-liter, about $1.99 and 7-11's are everywhere.
Other than that, hows your trip? Laz and I would have tried to get in touch for your visit here, but things are really very hectic out here in East County.

5. Diet Pepsi crisis solved |

Thanks neighbor. :hi:
As far as trip goes, just got back from the Old Town Trolley Tour with my folks. Was a perfect day for it and we got off at the Coronado Hotel for a while and walked around. But, I think it's just obnoxious around this part of the country that you have to pay daily parking fees at the hotels. I had to pay one in LA too. Sheesh!
Might have something going on in LA again Friday with some DUers. I'll PM you. :D

7. Speaking of Parking fees... |
|
I've been having to go to several office/medical complexes for workman's comp issues in "upscale" areas, and have been informed that many high rent complexes can no longer afford to validate parking for their customers or patients.
Sheesh, one doctor I had to see several times was in a complex with a $5.00 an hour parking garage! Sure, WC "refunds" you for the parking, but no way in heck could I afford seeing him a possible three times a month. After the first time, if Laz couldn't drive and drop me off, I parked down the street at the meter and hope that I'd be able to hobble there and back without killing myself, as well as hoping the van wouldn't be busted into while I was getting the tests done.
The excuse was that the rent for the office and dedicated parking was so high, the average just-making-ends-meet practice or company in the building had to weigh paying for the average amount of validation stickers or paying for an low-level office-worker type employee for a month.

10. Anything to make a buck around here |
|
In Council Bluffs Iowa the Dr. office parking lot costs 50 cents upon exit and most of the time the receptionist in the office will give you a code to bypass the fee.
And, the bars there have parking lots. FREE, dangit! No fees in hotel parking lots. Sheesh!

we have big ramps at the major hospitals (like Sunset & Vermont) & charge a buck for 3 hours. Most clinics have free parking.
