My brother died yesterday after a long battle with cancer. The reason that he is dead at the age of 48 is that we do NOT have universal health care in this country.
Does anyone know of any group that is working on Universal Health care? I would like to add that as a place that people could make contributions in his name. That is one of the important issues about which he felt strongly.
Thanks for any information in advance.

I'm sorry about your brother's death.
48 is too young to die, and especially for that reason.
Sympathies to you and the family!

Most people don't contribute to charities, because they are overwhelmed by how many there are. They wind up not contributing because they can't decide. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true. The thing is, if everyone picked just one charity and contributed to it, simply by sending what they could afford, just about every charity would gain. If you find out where to send money to the cause you are interested in, start a thread informing us about it. I'll be happy to contribute.

8. Since Medicaid is the closest we currently come |

perhaps one approach would be advocating measures that would broaden its coverage. Of course, this should be part of the basic democratic platform.
