Cat Toy recommendations?
Kootchstone has more energy than 3 cats. I need to wear him out, he is driving Igamoo crazy

6. My first purchase
I have seen them and they look like fun. Igamoo was adopted with his name.
Kootchstone is for Dennis Kucinich and Paul Wellstone.

2. A toy mouse on an overhead elastic
We got one of these once. There's a curved metal piece with rubber tips that you can put around the top of your doorframe, and a length of elastic hanging from it with a toy mouse bouncing on the end. The cats loved it.

The only problem was that it wore out quickly. If you're prepared to stock up on cheap toy mice and some elastic and keep replacing them, though, it's as good a cat play item as I know.

3. Cat Dancer
Long wire...with rolled up papers on the end. Awesome. The only toy I've ever known cats to play with. Not kittens...CATS!

They're about $2.50.

5. Kitty Tease Deluxe
The Galkie Company
P.O. Box 20
Harrogate,TN 37752

423-869-8138

It's a very simple toy, a short piece of fiberglass fishing pole with 50 LB test line and a scrap of denim on the end. You can make the denim behave like a mouse or a bird and the cats just go nuts, stalking, pouncing, jumping. And you'll have a good time as well.

7. Eeeks are our cats' favorite. They love the Cat Dancer, too.

Eeeks are the perfect stuffed toy: their backs are covered in realistic fake fur; they are stuffed with catnip; and they have a rattle in the center that, when squeezed or bitten, must feel like real rodent innards. They really take a beating, too.

23. I am disturbed
to report that my cat has EVERY SINGLE toy mentioned so far. What a spoiled little brat.

He loves the red/blue pop-up box thing ($10-15 at Target), isn't so much a fan of cat dancer (though I've seen other cats go apeshit over it), and he's on his 3rd mouse-hanging-from-door. His absolute favorite toy though, is a wand with a string attached...at the end of which is 2 large feathers. I have to hide it and bring it out for special occasions only.

8. some suggestions

the red nylon boxes are the biggest hit at my place, and they're just 9.99 for the set.

best 10 bucks i've spent in a while...

the feather with bells at the end of the stick is also a big hit, tho the only pic i have of these, you only seeing nikko going for it:

i also hear the electrical mouse is a bit hit, though i'm forgetting the name of it right now... i'm sure someone here will chime in... there are a few others in the pet forum who know cat toys like others know fine wine...

10. Cat Dancer
Cats think they invented god so god could invent this for them.
They might be right.

Best cat toy ever.

12. If you have hard floors..
try little rubber bouncy balls. You can usually get them from vending machines at supermarkets for a quarter.

14. I don't even want to
know how much money I have spent on cat toys. The ones they like the best are little puff balls. They are light, and when the little paws bat them, they travel far.

15. Cardboard box with cat size door and windows cut in it, ane on on 'roof'
toss in a catnip ball and let nature take its course. Good when used with all the above recommended cat toys.

Come next spring, get a bunch of wind-up toy bunnies and hopping chickens, cats love to 'kill' those.

17. There is a toy that is round with a ball
that goes around and around. It stays in the tube of the circle , though. Cats can spend hours with it, but I am not sure of the name of the product.

26. A crumpled up cigarette pack
or anything with cellophane wrapping on it. All threee of my cats absolutely love chasing these when you throw them. They like the sound and I think they like to see the light reflecting off the cellophane, because it suggests motion to them (and of course cats like to pounce on anything moving...).
