Ever have Shrimp and Grits?
I read in Time that this is Raven Simone's favorite dish.

I've never had it, but I'm attempting a concoction right now.

1. Never! But I can't think of too many things that wouldn't be great with
shrimp. The one thing that probably would go so well is my other favorite--chocolate. Tho actually, I think the Mexicans have mole' with shrimp and that's pretty good. What are you seasoning it with? Enjoy! Let us know how it is.

8. I don't think I'd like it
My uncle gets fried mush when he goes out to eat at a breakfast type place. I tried it and it did not agree with me.

4. Sounds like New Orleans Workin' Man's Food
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 01:45 PM by Coastie for Truth
(or Morgan City LA "Oil Patch" food). Go great with Red Beans and Rice or Gumbo.

I feel like I'm being shaken to death on an HH52A (Coast Guard chopper) over the Gulf.

(Seriously, there's a working man's restaurant/bar on Tschopitulas (sp) Street on the New Orleans water front that serves Shrimp and Grits)

13. I cooked the grits
and then turned the heat down very low.

chopped up five jumbo shrimp, and put that in with some cheese and butter.

let it cook very slowly for about five minutes.

It tastes WONDERFUL!!!!

:D

You can use either the fast-cooking or the traditional grits.

I used the fast cooking type.

11. Some of the best food in the world...
maybe with a bit of andouille sausage sliced on top.

If you're ever visiting Ithaca, be sure to stop here:

I've lived in New Orleans, and this place would give a lot of N.O. restaurants a run for their money.

15. shit yeah!
tasty stuff. 'Tho around here it's usually "grit cakes" instead of grits proper, with the shrimp on top of the cakes. :9
