Who went to "charm school"?
When I was a kid, a lot of my little friends attended.
I begged my mother to let me go too, but she said it was just a place to learn basic manners; and she wasn't going to waste her money on something she could do herself. I suspect she was right.

But tell me...Is that what charm school was all about?

2. LOL!
If they went, they'd have learned to be charming while they flamed!

3. I did not;
In NC, the "Charm school" was run by Ivey's Department store, and was called "White Gloves and Party Manners."

As a child, I thought it was stupid...as an adult, I wish those charm schools would make a comeback, and be mandatory. Apparently parents these days are not interested in teaching their children how to act in public-much less which fork to use.

5. I went to a
private girls school where 'deportment' was one of the subjects.

Yes, it involved manners...behavior at the table, settings and how to deal with them, curtseys to the Queen, manner of address, controlling temper, dealing with people who can't, posture, duty, responsiblity, stiff upper lip etc.

A wide variety of things...not sure if this is what would be involved in charm school.

What were their secrets? Do tell!

11. Heh!
Well this comes under poise and decorum...how to handle the obnoxious guest, audience member, anyone who accosts you etc.

How to verbally slice and dice them, give them the 'cut direct'...or if all else fails, where to hit them with a large rock...er teapot.

My favorite class there at the fine Zsa Zsa Gabor Charm Institute was Telephone Etiquette 101 with a professor named Ernestine.

7. Reminds me of a great joke.
Two southern bells were sitting on a porch sipping lemonaid.
Bell #1 says to bell #2, "See the beautiful necklace my husband gave me on our wedding day."
Bell #2 repies, "how nice."
Bell #1, "And this is the beautiful matching earrings he gave me when I gave birth to our first son."
Bell #2, "how nice."
Bell #1, "and this is the beautiful mathching ring he gave me when I gave birth to our second son."
Bell #2, "how nice."
Bell #1, "what has your husband given to you?"
Bell #2, "he sent me to charm school."
Bell #1, "charm school, what's that."
Bell #2, "charm school is where I learned to say how nice insted of fuck you."

It's much better in my best southern bell voice.
