My truck just got totaled today. |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 06:28 PM by tjwash
I only bought it a year ago. It was just parked in the street, and it got T-Boned, ramming it so hard into and over the curb, that the axle and frame is bent, and the body on the driver side is completely gone.
Luckily no one was hurt. We were inside when we heard the collision. The guy who hit it was a 90 year old man, and he was actually parking in a lot. He was pulling into a stall, and hit the gas instead of the brake, flew over two curbs, and my truck was the only thing that stopped his car from ending up in the living room of the house it was parked in front of.
Now I get the pleasure of dealing with the insurance companies.

4. Luckily we are both totally covered. |

And I know a lot of lawyers, if they don't get me back to where I was before...

7. They probably have immunity from liability |
|
but it would get attention so maybe someone would deal with it more effectively.
As though killing 10 (?) people in Santa Monica wasn't enough.

5. Sorry to hear that, man |

Hopefully the insurance company won't give you too much trouble and you'll be back in another vehicle pretty soon.

8. Well, if you do not need the hauling capacity of a truck |
|
...now's the time to think about something a bit more fuel efficient, what with the price of gas going up, up, up....
Hope the INS Co ponies up.

9. Like I said, I know a lot of lawyers if they don't. |
|
They are a major insurance company also, as is mine so I am hoping the problems are minimal.
I actually need the truck for my job, and am going to make his insurance company buy me a new one.

Or at least get on the waiting list! I keep waiting/hoping something like that will happen to my Ford Taurus heap and it doesn't happen. What a piece of crap. It turned me off of American vehicles, but I digress.........I now want a Prius.

11. I work as a firefighter/EMT. |

We get a few of these excuses all the time from elderly drivers.
"The gas pedal got stuck'... "The brake pedal didn't work"... etc.
Yeah, right. Face it dude, you're a menace on the road just waiting for an accident to happen.

12. Reminds me of the woman at the dump |
|
who backed up her car into the trailer used to haul trash. One had to drive up a ramp and then back up to the trailer -- so that you would be flinging garbage down into the container. Her car ended butt down with the front pointing up.
Yep -- the fire department was called to get her out. I've seen the photos -- my husband was in charge of the rescue.
She lost her drivers license -- as she should have.

14. So sorry about your truck! |
|
Absolutely believe age 65+ should have a yearly driving test to keep license.
Glad no one was physically hurt, but can imagine the OUCH! of what you'll be dealing with for next few days or more.
