40 Year old Virgin sticks it to the competition......
The well reviewed "little" comedy staring Daily Show Alum Steve Corell, swept past the late summer competion and brought in over $20.5 this weekend bocx office receipts....

Perhaps an even better indicator for the movie is the Theater Average for the weekend. The 40YOV brought in over $ 7,220 to those exibitors lucky enough to have booked the movie...

The Four Brothers, John Singleton Homage to the Duke's Son's of Katie Elder, hung in at the number three spot with a respectable
$13 million....

Red Eye, a Wes Craven "Thriller" about a young woman fighting off a would be assasin, came in second with $ 16.5 million....

Daisy and the Boys slipped to eigth place and it looks like it's time to play Taps as the latest TV to Movie scam is sinking fast....

Meanwhile, Twice is definatly enough as SNL allum Rob Schneider sinks out of the top ten faster than you can say "This is Rob Schneider Callins, yea tell him it's Rob Schneider, no not Ricky Schroeder, Rob Schneider...... I use to be on SNL... Hello, Hello..."

21. Isn't he going to play Maxwell Smart in a new "Get Smart" movie?
after seeing the previews for Virgin, he seems a good choice for Smart.

6. Really......
Especially this one....

I hear that Paul Rudd is great in this movie, the consummate second banana, hollywood's terminology, not mine, is a great foil to Steve Corell......

12. I saw a midnight screening. We thought it would be packed but it wasn't.
Even if it would have been packed, I think this is the kind of movie that feels good to laugh about with a lot of people so I don't think I'd mind. (If that makes sense).

We had a great time watching it--it made me cry "laugh tears" three times. I hope you have a good time.

10. I saw 40YOV and Red Eye this weekend
A rare two movie weekend, but the video store was empty, and the wife and I were bored.

Both were solid, entertaining flicks, and I'd suggest them both the anyone. Not WOW THAT WAS AMAZING!!!, but definitely fun movies. Good stuff. Both were packed, btw.

17. No, not really
Half ironic, half unintentionally ironic 13-year old locker room humor, that's funny just cuz men in late-capitalism are fucking clowns generally. A few spot on performances, and lots of good comic timing.

19. My apologies
Didn't realize Godard frequented this message board.

40 year Old Virgin is not, of course, a Rob Schneider flick, but I guess you were speaking in general.

Maybe I'm just a big fat sucker, but I like to catch something light and funny once in a while, and this worked. But you're right: it probably won't reach your impeccable standards.

20. Will be another "There something about Mary" success
Steve Carell rocks
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0136797/

'40 yo virgin' has a Ben Stiller feel to it like 'Something about Mary' - funny stuff about sex. Should be as big a success.

Steve Carell of Daily Show and of spring 2005 TV 'The Office' mockumentary series not only stars in it but wrote it. He looks and acts completely different than in 'The Office'. There was so many funny scenes and lines in this one that it is worth a second viewing.

28. Funny thing.... my wife and I saw it and now we going at it like
rabbits. A little sexual comedy sure put a jump start in this 20 year marriage. Can't really explain why though.

it has to be the funniest movie I've seen in a long time, well worth the $7 bucks to get in. Steve Carrell was excellent, I really need to see it again

Obviously the producers took a time machine 16 years into the future and did a documentary about me...
