DUers at Camp Casey
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 08:40 PM by WestHoustonDem
Just got back from Camp Casey and it was too awesome to put all of my thoughts together tonight. Lots of DUers there. We got a group shot of some:

(PuraVida Dreamin, Frictionless O, Katinmn, JohnCoby, myself, Lisa0825)

Also there were NoPasaran, Anarchy1999, Ginbarn, Derby378, WolverineDG, Elehhhna and a bunch of others.

More importantly, take a look at Arlington West with the contribution of Flags for the Texas fallen and Casey's unit:

31. I went down to Crawdord on Saturday...
I went to Camp Casey on Saturday and was moved to tears by the sight of the memorial crosses that Mr. Northern ran over with his truck.

After gazing at them for a couple of moments, a woman about ten feet away from us stood back from one of crosses, turned to us with anguish in her face and said, "That's my boy right there!", before turning away in tears.

That was tough.

It was such a strange feeling, being so close to the home base of the Evil One, who was riding around his ranch that day with Lance Armstrong. We're going back again this weekend if possible, just to add a couple more bodies to the event.

It is my sincerest hope that all of the Democrats and Progressives---and all the moms, especially---who are rallying around this moment will read James Kroeger's The Republican Nemesis.

Maybe then we'll all be able to get on the same page in taking on our clever and manipulative foe.

36. Kroeger's piece is RIGHT ON...
a MUST READ for every one who stands left of the center and possibly those that stand LEFT of the neocons and christofascists!

Thank you.

3. thanks so much........
I just love this protest and I can't get enough of the reports and images from the camp. Does anyone know what will happen when the "Vacationer-in-Chief" goes back to D.C.?? I think there should be a permanent camp either in Crawford, or back in D.C., of course the weather would be much better in Texas.

7. Personally
I think there should be a great big "welcome back" contingent in DC when he returns. I'd join 'em. I'd hold up a sign that says "WHERE'S OSAMA?"

43. I feel so much better...
knowing Arlington West has been set up on private property, provided by a sympathizer. We should all be grateful to that Texan who let us use an acre of his land. As it was before, our patriots for peace were way too vulnerable to suit me.

18. The most well organized event I've ever seen
Plenty of food, clean porta-potties, plenty of water and ice. Shuttles between both camps and the Peace House. Last night, not a single car left Camp 2 with an open seat. If there was room in the car, they gave someone a ride to the Peace House. It was an awesome display of progressive power because everything went so smoothly. I've never seen anything like it.

on Aug. 10th! Those tents and Alrington West are gorgeous! I would love to thank everyone responsible--any idea where credit is due?

Last I heard, the plan was for the protest to follow George back to D.C. and pitch a new camp as close as possible to the WH.

'Til then . . . any word on plans for the final wkend in Crawford?

Thanks!!

34. I had a blast....
A couple of friends and I (one recently returned from Iraq) went down on Saturday. The air was electric with hope, love, and support.

I have to say it was the most fufilling experience of my life (at least the first 25 years).

Unfortunately my corporate masters needed me back on Monday, or else I would still be down there.

But my vet buddy, and I will be returning to Crawford this weekend, and I can't freaking wait!!!
