Just watched two good lesser known DVD's |
|
Funny thing, when I put the first one, "Around the Bend" in, it had a preview for the other one I bought, "A Very Long Engagement".
Anyway, the first one, "Around the Bend", had Chris Walken and Michael Caine in it. Quite a good movie.
As was the second, which was directed by the guy who did Amelie, and starring the same actress, Audrey Tautou, and many of the same actors. It also had Jodie Foster, who spoke a very perfect French.
So, I recommend you check them out, for those days you are in more of a "film" watching mode than "movie" watching.

1. I've been wanting to see "A Very Long Engagament" |

Jeunet is a great director based on what I've seen from him.

2. It was really very good. |

It followed the same formula as Amelie, but, due to the subject matter, was much darker, and somewhat depressing at times.
Many of the actors from Amelie had roles, and Jodie Foster's did a great job as well.
I liked his use of color in this, it was more muted than Amelie, but gave it sort of a muted, timeless feel.
