(Miami QB)Crudup will start against Syracuse
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Derrick Crudup will replace Brock Berlin as Miami's starting quarterback Saturday against Syracuse, after the Hurricanes scored only one touchdown during two consecutive losses.

Crudup spent two seasons playing behind Ken Dorsey and nine games behind Brock Berlin. Coach Larry Coker said Monday that Berlin would still play against the Orangemen.

Berlin has 14 interceptions, three fumbles and two losses in his last two starts for the Hurricanes (7-2). Berlin had five turnovers in losses to Virginia Tech and Tennessee.

"Obviously we're concerned about the interceptions," Coker said. "We're going to give Derrick Crudup an opportunity, but without question, we're going to have both of them ready to play for the game.

"It's something I felt like we needed to do. It's a tough decision, but I think it's probably the right decision at this time for our football team."

Berlin, a junior who transferred from Florida after the 2001 season, has completed 61.5 percent of his passes but has just nine touchdown passes and at least one turnover in eight of nine games.

1. Oh how I hope we make this three losses in a row for them.
Nothing would be better to see them fall to the bottom of the big east before the door hits them on the ass on the way out. In case you didn't notice, I'm a bitter Syracuse fan. Though with the football team picking things up, the basketball team good enough to repeat, and the big east adding 5 excellent schools, I guess I could be worse off :)

2. Not a big surprise since Berlin has really struggled this year
VD did you know Crudup's dad played at OU? As I recall he was a fairly decent player.

VD...Jason White is a senior but might be able to petition the ncaa for another year of eligibility due to being injured the last two years. Wether or not White decides to try and play at OU next year will depend upon where he thinks he will be drafted. Still an unkown, since some NFL teams might not want to take a chance due to his knees.

VD...did you see the stats from the OU-Texas A&M game?

3. It's the curse of Evangel.
Never, ever recruit a highly-ranked player from Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, LA for your team. Their best days are in high school. I can think of about ten ECC players that came out of HS as the greatest thing since sliced bread, only to fall apart in college.

6. Actually, I was going to mention Evangel, since OU
signed a Parade All-American(I don't recall what is name is now) from Evangel two years ago, and after being demoted to fourth string during the summer he transfered to a directional school in LA. He had a lot of talent, however, he had a hard time maturing once he got to college. He was in and out of Stopps doghouse over the last two years and once he was moved to fourth string he realized he would never play at OU.

7. That would be Brent Rawls.

An excellent choice to illustrate the curse of Evangel. Fortunately for OU fans, Stoops is too good of a coach to be sucked in by the hype and Rawls never started a game at OU.

My personal favorite is Josh Booty at LSU. Mr. Greatest Quarterback on the planet who was going to lead LSU to multiple national championships turned out to be a giant flop. No, I'm not bitter at all. It's just that when we finally started playing the guy behind Booty we won the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl.

8. That's it......Brent Rawls
The two or three years he was at OU, he might have played 5-10 minutes doing wrap-up duty. He seemed to have talent but not the desire to get better. Maybe he thought he could just get by at OU on the hype he had coming out of high school, but needless to say it didn't work. The straw the really broke the camels back was when he fell out of the back end of a pickup last year. Stopps was not pleased.

I do remember the name Booty. Is he still at LSU?

4. Berlin has not had a very good year oh and also....
Two more wins (pray/knock on wood) Ohio State will play for the national title. Purdue and then that team up north.

Hope pray hope pray for wins.

They will leap over USC IF they win both those games. Everything had to work just perfectly for that to even be possible and it has.

and pulling for an Ohio State loss. Geaux Tigers.

At least we both want Bush to lose in 04.

9. Curse you and your spawn
I just found out that I will be at the OSU/Marshall game next year, I told my own mother ('61 grad of Marshall) that I can not find it within myself to root (rut) against the Buckeyes. A family reunion of the Ohio family the next day, I feel an outcast from the WV family coming my way.
