This "good night's sleep" business is overrated, I think.
At Mrs R's urging (backed by utter exhaustion; I couldn't fight the both of them off), I had one of those last night, and it seemed kind of all right this morning to have had one.

But tonight is full of insomnia.

Think I'll go back to the usual five to six hours. At least that's consistent.

3. Don't be jealous. It tends to run in twenty-minute stretches
or so, depending on how long it is between times when I roll onto my left side.

Although, I understand that ou only remember dreams when you wake up while you're having them, so I get to remember a lot of them. And they're generally not unpleasant. They tend to be bizarre, but at least the bad ones only happen every few days.

2. I usually sleep 8-9 hours
I just can't get to sleep before about 4 am. I'm lucky to have a 2nd shift job.

5. I'm not working right now...but I'm looking daily
I have to be up at 5:45 to get the kids to the bus stop by 6:30. I generally get to bed between two and four.

7. Ah, but you get naps, don't you? I remember you were
talking about that a while back. Now I know why; that second-shift work will whack your internal clock out, won't it?

They say naps are a good thing, and I believe them...the folks who live in places where siestas are common do seem more happy than us northerners, don't they?

8. I get more naps on the weekend
I might lay down 2 or 3 times on a Saturday or Sunday. Through the week I might nap once a day, but not always.

always seemed to be the best time to write.

10. What you said..

I *HATE* perky-in-the-morning people. They act like they own the world. Little do they know that we own the first part of the new day!

6. I'm of the opinion, my dear Redstone...
that it's more important to feel well than to think of how many hours you've slept...

Perhaps the quality of your sleep is what matters...

As long as you can function reasonably well during your day, then it works for you...

And there's always naps...now those I LOVE!

:hi: :loveya:

14. I usually get 5 to 6 hours of sleep a night, and its always worked fine...
...for me. In fact, its hard for me to stay in bed more than that. My body has become conditioned to it.

15. I never nap since I feel it is important
to be alert as possible during all of one's waking hours. I get about 7 hours or more of sleep but this is broken up by some normal (for my age) nightly necessities. And then back to sound sleep again. I have very vivid dreams. The other night I was talking the current situation over with Ike, Harry Truman and LBJ (!) who shook my hand with a painfully strong grip as he used to do to folks.

18. It's the most creative time of day.
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 04:03 AM by Borgnine
I'm currently writing a book and writing for a sitcom parody on a cable access TV station (hey, you've got to start somewhere). I've found that there's something about the night that just inspires the brain. I think it might have something to do with everyone else in your immediate area being sound asleep and freeing up the psychic highway (or something like that). So, as such, I tend to stay up until 6 AM and then go to bed, college classes permitting.

Maybe insomnia isn't so much not being able to sleep but more of your brain wanting to be awake.
