3. One of my favorite all-time moments in The Simpsons.
I appreciate this guy's "talent" in the same way that Bart Simpson appreciates it.

4. What have you got against Russell?
He's an 'equal opportunity basher' -- he picks on both sides AND the middle. Some of his jokes are corny, some of 'em are just plain cheesy...many are So Not Politically Correct. But he is clever...and you can't deny some of his lines are priceless.

A sampling from his site (quotes taken from performances):

"The Republicans have a new healthcare proposal: Just say NO to illness!"

"Vice President Dan Quayle criticizes the fictitious character Murphy Brown for having a baby out of wedlock - causing the Bush team to lose the election, leading to eight years of prosperity under Bill Clinton."

"Be wary of the Republicans demanding an up or down vote. They don't want a down vote anymore than "fair and balanced" Fox News wants balance."

"Drug pushers aren't the only nemeses hanging around high schools. There are also the lurking army recruiters."

"The latest attack on the London subway appears to be a botched attempt - like say, Operation Iraqi Freedom."

5. "One note solo"

Neil Young got away with it in "Cinnamon Girl," but that's the exception to the rule. Everything that comes out of Mark Russell sounds like everything else that's already come out of Mark Russell.

Any time that I'm flipping channels and come across one of those PBS specials, I feel like "Aw CRAP, here we go again"...

Just a matter of personal taste. I know he has a following or he wouldn't keep getting the PBS specials. I just agree with Bart Simpson on this one.

6. He's certainly no musician...that's for sure.
Chico Marx was far funnier on the piano...and 'most everywhere else.

:)
