NYC - Manhattan event just a few min ago (crime)

In manhattan I was at broadway and 40th st when I heard a loud bang. Then I turned around and saw a flash inside the building (after I saw tons o pigeons fleeing in fear) there I saw a half naked man running away with people chasing. When the whole pandemonium cleared, a man was lying on the ground (either a suspect or injured, not sure) and the police came all over the place asking us to back away. We hung out for a bit then the police asked us to disperse so we did. My question was.. Do any duers know about this event in nyc? If so I would like details.

half-naked inside the building? Was he dead, or just injured? any updates? Was this in your neighborhood? I hope you are ok...

And it scared the wits out of me. I live in denver, colorado and never experienced anything like that before. No, the man lying wasn't the one that was half naked.
