4. We can hardly believe it either but it is. |

It was never an issue when I was growing up in the 1960s and 1970s. It was never discussed in my church but maybe that was because we were upper middle class Presbyterians and my parents were medical professionals (surgeon and physical therapist). Ironically, I grew up just an hour south of Dayton, TN, the site of the Monkey Trial.

(No offense) I think it is just that the religious right had not really conjealed by then. I certainly remember it as an undercurrent.

My parents were wealthy Republicans. I just don't remember creationism ever being mentioned in school or in church. I suppose that I got both a good religous and academic education. I was not brought up to believe that religion and science were in conflict. Lucky me.

6. "intelligent design" is a ruse designed for rubes... |
|
an advertising ploy & campaign. right-wing fundamentalist republican nut-balls cannot in any way sell their true agenda & they know it, so in keeping with the ways in which they 'word chop' & re-orient concepts & notions both and voila! 'intelligent design' = just another phrase signifying: pat robertson the insane ~ and THAT is all

If they wanted to be obstinately radical, they'd keep "intelligent" out of the "design".

was happening in 1935 or somewhere along there, it wouldn't seem so bizarre

Dunderhead speak for "We don't yet understand the exact nature of the origins of the universe so we'll attribute it to a magic fairy because there is no way something like this could have come about any other way". :eyes:
Yeah, and because I don't understand all of the intricacies of geophysics I can just ignore the law of gravity....
