**I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.**

However, most state courts have websites where you can paperwork.

At worse, it takes that cowardly, passive-aggressive woman into the open. :puke:

64. Uh, I think the victim was a woman
not the culprit. I would assume the culprit is male. If it's someone she knows, she might need to collect some evidence. If she doesn't want to call the police in on this, you or she or whoever can hire a forensics investigator freelance. (Yes, there are many who set up shop just like detectives) Of course, you would be paying for all the tests as well, which could run a bundle.

When harassment such as this reaches a stage where there is physical evidence, though, calling in the police is a good idea. It's better to have it on record than not, and the victim won't have to worry about the monetary end of a freelancer because if there is a crime, and she is willing to press charges, the state will pay for the investigation.

They would probably want to get prints from the mailbox and the package if they both haven't already been messed with too much. If they have, then it's likely they would try to get some DNA off the undergarment if they could. Again, if it's been handled too much already, they won't be able to do too much.

Another tact, if she wants to avoid involving the police (which is something I wouldn't do considering all the crazies out there), is to set up a stakeout discreetly watching the house and the mailbox. If there are other family members willing to do this without being discovered, people can take turns. A good camera with fast film or infrared film can probably take some shots of who did it, enough to allow the victim to get a restraining order. She might be able to get one without evidence, but some judges swing too conservative and won't grant one.

If all this fails, I would suggest a public meeting. Several burly family members accompany her to a very public place and meet up with him, and tell him to stay away. Tape record the meeting or video it, and keep it handy if there is ever a need to use it for prosecution. Most people who do this sort of thing are cowards, and are unlikely to start something in public. And if they do, they're just showing how fucking stupid they are!

Or was it put in the mail box without going through the postal system?

Either way, it's a felony. Have her report it to her postmaster. They will investigate.

This sounds like a deranged person. If anything really bad ever happens, it would behoove her to have record of the pee-in-the-mail.

I'd call the police AND the postmaster.

That is a federal offense. You can't put anything but mail in a mailbox. I know this because I used to have a delivery job in college. And I had an obnoxious neighbor put a note in my mailbox a few years ago. I reported it to the local post office. Yes, they did investigate.

11. Dr. Freud reporting for duty
We agree that this is probably a male.
This male put urine on her thong underwear.
That means he had his penis out around her revealing underwear.

I'd say this is someone who wants to have sex with her but can't even try to do it the way normal adults do it (i.e. get to know her, ask her out, try to woo her, etc.)

He's angry about his inability and blames her.

If I were her I'd buy a stun gun or mace or something.

I know it's not PC, but there are some really jealous women out there who would do crazy shit like this.

One thing you should know about stalkers - a lot of them like to communicate metaphorically. So the person upthread who did a little amateur Freud is not too far off. Stalkers are narcissists who will push the boundaries of the law - they will make threats without "spelling them out", because if they did that, they would most certainly end up in prison. Seems to be part of their criminal subculture to communicate in code.

Of course, if pushed far enough, they will break the law, as this person did. Also, stalkers have sexual issues and issues with bodily functions, so I'm not surprised they would do something so disgusting. One of my stalkers sent me a brown recluse spider in hopes that it would scar my flesh - probably they were hoping it would bite me on the face.

This is stalking behavior. I understand your sister's reluctance to go after the perp for this, but I hope she's keeping a good log of everything.

it to the police. Even if she can't prove anything, there should be a police report filed in case it happens again. She might not be able to prove it this time, but she might be able to the next time. The more accurate the reports are, the more chance the police has to do something about it.

23. When you say 'Mailbox'

do you mean a slot in a door or a receptacle designated for postal service use or was it actually sent in the mail ?

Not withstanding the fact that it was sealed in the zip-lock, there might be issues of illegal use here, though I'd be immensely surprised if the postal enforcement people would want to get involved.

67. Regardless of whether it's a joke to the culprit
or not, it wasn't interpreted that way by the victim. To most people, this kind of behavior is just plain wrong.

Did you know, just for a frame of reference, that many serial killers were also animal abusers when they were young? Behavior that is contrary to social norms is often a prelude to more abuse and sick behavior down the line. Some parents often don't see the connection between burning holes in a dog's side with a lit cigarette, and killing a neighbor for having the volume on his TV too loud, but that's just because the parents aren't smart enough to see trends in behavior.

Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 08:17 AM by Rich Hunt
This is how stalkers communicate - it's just like sending someone a dead animal or something. Most state stalking laws recognize this behavior as stalking if there is other surveillance or threatening activity accompanying it. The stalker when confronted will say that it's only a joke, if they admit it at all.

You have to get inside the minds of a narcissistic, controlling individual who believes he or she is above the law. Got any more protestations, script kiddie??

I know this sounds strange, but if she starts thinking about who it might be, she'll know who it is. Unless the family member is in the public eye (where weirdos come out of the woodwork), it's more likely than not the person her gut tells her that it is.

She should report this, btw.

44. That's horrible advice.
I'm sure the crazy person would just love being pelted by a paint gun. Then SHE has the upper hand, because she can press assault charges.

I agree with your sentiment, and the id side of me would LOVE to see the sniffas do something like this.

But it would certainly cause major grief for the sniffas.

51. good, then they can go to court and she can explain leaving
urine soaked panties with sniffa's sister's name on them in a mailbox.

I'm not so sure she'll want that on the record. Perhaps I'm being naive.

the comments you've made. This is sick and disgusting and also quite disturbing.

81. I didn't think you telling a joke. Has she contacted the police?
These things can escalate rather quickly. My ex did something rather nasty with some old clothing of mine and it ended up snowballing into the need for a restraining order. Just to be on the safe side, I would recommend that your sister look into at least filing a report so she has background.

Take care sniffa,

Laura

85. Funny thing. We just went camping, with a cooler. Quite a bit of our
leftover food that we placed in baggies had water in them. Water that doesn't drain out until you open it. I also store my homemade chicken noodle soup in baggies. Why don't you give it a rest instead of adding insult to injury? sniffa has already clarified that he wasn't joking.

86. It was a urine soaked thong not just the liquid
A baggie (zipped or not) could hold that quite easily.

To sniffa: Please do everything you can to encourage her to report this. If, after a while, another form of harrassment occurs, then this occurance will be on file.

93. I am glad that you find it so funny. I guess
it wouldn't be so funny if it happened to one of your loved ones after they had harassment problems with the person they suspect. And the flaming poop on the door step is a little different. That is a known practical joke that TEENS usually do. You really need to check your sensitvity. Please, some people.... :eyes:

94. sniffa that is horrible.
The advice on this thread is good. Call the cops. Call the post master general in your town.

Leaving things in a mailbox is a federal crime. And, if XXX knows who it is, the DNA in the baggie is more than enough to convict her.

Good luck. Sorry you are going through this.

i'm not reaLLy going through anything, as it's not me (or even mrs. sniffa). i do hope it stops.

it won't though unLess 1 of 2 things happen: 1. the harrassee, puts a stop to it via poLice or vigiLantism. 2. the harrassee compLeteLy cuts herseLf off from the boy being fought over.

both choices are wise in my view.

98. sounds like a sniffa famiLy member needs to enroll in a self defense class
I really wish she would come to her senses and call the police. Hopefully she'll change her mind about that. In the meantime, if she was my relative, I would enroll her in a self defense course. If I couldn't afford it, I would talk to the rest of my family members and convince everyone to pool their money to pay for it.

Too bad skittles doesn't offer a "how to kick ass" boot camp. :(
