2. I LOVED the Gong Show !!
I met Murray Langston (The Unknown Comic) when I waitressed at a dinner theatre during high school ... he gave me a pic of himself, naked except for the paper bag ... and a paper wine bottle bag on his 'other head', the autograph said "You can jump in the sack with me anytime!"

O.M.G. :wow:

Or is he just making shit up?

5. It's possible
Even George Clooney, the director of "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", says he isn't sure.

It did seem rather odd that on the "Dating Game", winning couples would be sent to such strange locations as West Berlin and Helsinki.

8. I truly don't know ...
... he always seemed shitfaced or tripped out on something, so it's hard to tell if he was just a nutcase, or if there was something heavy duty going on under those hats.

11. Chuck was in the Accounting Dept. of US Steel...
Homestead, PA Works. He worked there shortly before I worked at the same plant. I was told that he was asked to leave and that the Management "did not believe that his future was in the accounting profession".

I guess they were right.

BTW, Chuck always had a rather heavy 'Burgh accent.

3. Oh, yeah. Did you see "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"?
There are a couple of interviews with this giant of a man. Sadly, he has lost his legs to diabetes and is in a wheelchair.

I loved "The Gong Show". Greatest. Game show. Evah.

10. That was a decent flick.
I watched it on Shotime one night because nothing good was on. I liked it.

when they did that show.
Your thoughts?

18. It's a good possibility with Rip Taylor. Don't know about the others.

Rip is a distant cousin.

22. I've seen Rip Taylor in West Hollywood (he wasn't drunk)
Though, come to think of it, maybe I had had a drink (or two) and THAT wasn't Rip Taylor. Come to think of it, maybe it was Skip E. Lowe (Public television talk show host).

Oh, never mind.

12. He was great
His act was one that warranted yelling to everyone in the house to announce that he was on when I was a kid.

14. I was Gong Show Addict.
Gene Gene was magnificent.

As was John Chenault:

"Why is getting up at six in the morning like a pig's tail?

It's Twirly."

In real life, I believe he was one of the shows producers.

16. Why doesn't CNN just give up their pretenses of being journalists...
and air reruns of The Gong Show 24/7? I'd start watching.

19. I do, but I am more disturbed by that Padres logo!
WTF? It is a wave. What happened to the Padre? First they get rid of the brown and gold and now they get rid of the Padre??

I'm very put off. I don't know if I can continue being their fan.

:puke: :argh: :spank:

How about "The San Diego Surf"?

21. Well it goes with the logo, but is it
a little pretentious???

It is certainly better than the Waves or the Coasters or the Sunshine or the Fly Fishermen.

So perhaps the Surf is it.

Write to Ted Leitner or whoever is doing sports arounf town these days. Tell him what's what!!

I miss San Diego.

that in later years Gene lost both legs due to diabetes.
