I just wonder, does anybody else here watch "Gunsmoke", that old TV
show most be on 10 times a day. One more thing how many dresses does
Miss Kitty have, she never wears the same dress twice.

5. I do like the show, the characters on the show are enjoyable to watch.
My grandfather was a big fan, you didn't get between him and the tv when that show was on.

2. Here's a little factoid about "Gunsmoke"...
Leo Strauss, the father of the neo-conservative movement in this country, loved "Gunsmoke." Black hats, white hats, no moral ambiguity. He hated to miss it.... He thought it was just the sort of morality play that the masses needed to understand right and wrong, good and evil....

6. The radio version was much more "gray"
In terms of how The West was treated; very realistic for it's time. It really was the first "adult" Western on Radio..

4. Here's some interesting trivia for Gunsmoke fans
James Arness, who plays Matt Dillon, was the monster in the 50s horror flick 'The Thing'. And his brother is Peter Graves, who starred in Mission Impossible.

7. Hands up, any many thought that Miss Kitty and Matt were a little more
then good friends.

I always thought Miss Kitty was cool, made her own money and wasn't married.
She was an equal with the men on the show, and stood her ground.

romantically.

And Kitty was a madame. That was way more than a saloon if you ask me.

12. I have noticed in a few shows that a cowboy and a saloon girl would be
going upstairs to the rooms. How did this get on TV back then, the censors would get on the Smothers Brothers but have a show that had madame running a saloon.

14. I remember that
And I don't remember it ever being scandalous.

The Smothers Brothers were liberals. Nuff said. :)

How about Soupy Sales? The censors hated him.
