In what kind of clothing are you most comfortable when appropriately
dressed for going out in public? Not work, not the theater, just out to a casual dinner or running errands or the doc's office, etc.

Me? Jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes, baseball hat.

You?

1. Very similar to yours
Jeans, t-shirt, casual shoes, sunglasses (I'm sensitive to light due to some meds I take).

Oh, and I don't wear white shoes because they make my feet look like water skis.

3. jeans and a button down shirt, or a suit.
sometimes shorts and a button down shirt if its hot. I'll wear just a t-shirt if I'm camping, but rarely will ever wear just a t-shirt outside that.

4. A nice, semi-dressy shirt, jeans to dress it down a bit,

and some wedges or heels. My husband says I am always too dressed up. But how dressed up can jeans really be? He just likes shorts and a T-shirt and flip flops. I love fashion so much and I feel best when I feel I look cute and I am very girly-girl!

46. same here... sometimes I'll wear a t-shirt, but only if it's
styled, as in fitted at the waist, or ruched styling or something. Otherwise, a nice shirt/blouse, and I looove trouser jeans or bootcut jeans. In the summer, wedges or sandals with a mid-to-low heel, and in the winter, nice boots. My husband's 6'4 and I'm 5'7 so I feel really short around him if I don't somehow jack up my height 2-3 inches.

Sometimes I'll switch the jeans for a casual cotton knee-length skirt or cotton slacks. I tend to be a bit dressier than the people around me, but not so much I look totally out of place.

41. Yes, I think they are more comfortable than
any other shoes I have. That said, I wouldn't go hiking with them or walking around the city too much. But for everyday wear they are the best. And I wouldn't wear them with suits either.

Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 10:02 AM by cfield
I'd rather lay around in nothing. But, if we're going out, my favorite is shorts/jeans (depending on weather), a k-state t-shirt or tank top, with flip flops. If it's for a nicer outing, I'll wear just a plain colored little tee and my sandals. In the winter, same outfit with my tennis shoes. But as soon as I'm back home, the shoes/sandals/flip flops come off. And, if it's after a big dinner or I know we're not leaving again, I'll change into pj pants to lounge or work around the house. I wear slacks and dress shoes all day every day so once I'm off the clock, it's comfy comfy comfy!!

Edit: to clarify

16. Shelley? Is that you?
I knew a woman who was a true nudist, she only wore clothing when she went out, other than that it was au natural.
Myself I switched over to dockers or similar slacks, jeans became too confining, my boys needed some breathing room.

If it's winter, i'll probably have to wear socks and will have a turtleneck with a light sweater over it.

I'm completely not kidding about that outfit. I cut the grass dressed like that! Unless it's really hot, then i'll wear short pants.

32. You can never go wrong with the classic blue blazer
If you don't have one, get one. IMHO it's an indispensible part of a grown man's wardrobe. Dress it up with slacks, go semi-casual w/ khakis and an open-collar oxford shirt, or dress it down with a pair of faded jeans and a t-shirt.

Never goes out of style, either.

How well does it have to be tailored? I saw a really cool kinda felt looking jacket that seemed perfect with jeans at Express Men the other day, but they didn't have it in a reasonable size for me (40L or 42L).

35. Felt's good. The "classic" is typically wool...
...or a wool blend. It kind of depends on the climate you're in, too-- although wool is pretty much all-purpose.

Also, to get the most mileage out of it, try to pick a classic cut-- two or three buttons, maybe double-breasted if you're body type can wear that kind of jacket well. It doesn't hurt to go to a men's clothing store that has tailors on site who can help you get a good fit. It may cost a little more, but you'll get a better result.

Turtleneck and jeans are fine during cold parts of the year, but winter clothes and shoes are so confining!!! Even jeans feel confining, compared to a nice big skirt.

30. Depends on what you mean by comfortable...
Super comfortable: Flannel pajamas

Reasonably comfortable: ripped jeans, T-shirt, tennis shoes (canvas), flannel overshirt

Comfortable in how I feel and how I feel I look: Loose fitting minorly distressed boot cut jeans, colorful button up shirt (untucked) with a tight colored undershit and canvas tennis shoes. Maybe a leatherless belt.

I want to figure out what other kinda shoes are snappy to wear on those kinda casual yet fashionable days.

Khakis and a black turtleneck is the greatest outfit every. Period. I can conquer the world in khakis and a turtle.

** Ohio gets hot, so I'll substitute khaki shorts/capris and a white t-shirt in the summer, but it's not quite as empowering.
