Low cut jeans on CNN - the eweee reaction
From Soledad O'Brien.

Any idea what they were talking about? It was for men, I think

1. There is an ad
advertising low cut jeans (I don't know the company). It shows one young guy who is shirtless with these jeans on and his public hair is showing because they are so low cut.

Nothing to get your knickers in a twist about--if you're actually wearing knickers, that is!

Funny, women models shave it all so they can wear those little thingies.. perhaps men should, too...

trim up up boys, keep it nice for us! I try not to be too picky; my hubby's a hairy man and won't trim as much as I'd like. But I'm happy with at least a little effort. Not too sure if I'd really like to see a guy in low ride jeans but if you're going to wear them...you gotta do a little gardening first!

37. That might look o'key on those skinny models.
But I don't think it will quite look the same on regular men, with their pudgy stomachs and behinds falling out of those low cut jeans.

And, remember this is a retread of the late-60's early 70's hiphuggers. People looked stupid in those then, then look stupid in them now.

19. Obviously.
On Both Counts! Me, i like the shape of people. The low cut, straight horizontal look of these pants blots out any softness in the curves. And, yeah, men have curves too, just in different places.

Like i said, i thought they looked stupid when i was 13 or 14, and i think they look stupid now. Apparently, my tastes haven't evolved.

22. I think that women can look great in low cut jeans
if they have long thin waist and wear snug top - like a turtle neck - tucked into their jeans with a belt. This would accentuate their long waist and will make them attractive.

The reality is that there are very few people - men and women - with a really really flat stomach, and this does not include the woman in the photo, above. And when you start seeing those flabs gather above the jeans these people end up being... muffin tops.

13. I strongly agree
Even worse is the habit of wearing whatever trousers so low down - I've seen loads of guys with the waist-band (hint hint fellas, that gives a clue as to where it's supposed to be) below their arse flashing pretty much the whole of their boxers at the world.

Just learn how to dress yourselves for pity's sake.

A young fellow with his traditional jeans pulled down to the lowers of his arse, jumping on a bicycle and heading across the street just as all the extra fabric around his ankles met the bike chain.

24. Gotta disagree sharply
Now some people can't pull it off, but alls I can think of now are those horrific, gawd awful high rise jeans that women wore in the late 80's-90's that were just sooo unflattering, that went way up to the waist.

Bleh!

I'm happy with this fashion, though, again, it can go too far, and if one can't pull it off there is a happy medium of medium rise! Oh and I LOVE that "distressed" is back in! And that it's called "distressed" not "ripped" or "ratty".

On guys, yeah, I'd prefer not to see your boxers or pubic hair.

david

P.S. This is the CUTEST pair of jeans EVER:

30. In the eighties and nineties, I wore boy-cut jeans, but they didn't...
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 11:50 AM by Maddy McCall
show my ass crack when I sat down.

Fashion is moving back toward more discrete styles, thank god.

On my first lecture in my class, I tell my college students that, even though there's no dress code at the college, in my class they will demonstrate respect for me and other students by not wearing pants so low that their ass crack shows when they sit or their boxers are a full eight inches above their pants line, or skirts so short that I get a crotch flash when they cross their legs. I don't want to see male OR female nipples. Oh, and I also make them take off baseball caps when they enter my classroom.

Common decency is something that Mom and Dad should have taught them before they arrived at college. Sadly, some of them never got those lessons at home.

33. I can agree to a degree
I think that people wear stuff they have no idea how to wear. I don't think ass cracks are anyone's idea of fashion, but I could be wrong.

I think there's classy fashion and there's stupid fashion. I personally like low rise jeans on women, not too much a fan of very low on men. I like stuff that's flashy and kinda "loud" and that grabs some attention.

Ass cracks and boxers just make me :puke:

42. This is great
I wish that all schools had some kind of uniform. Does not need to be a blazer with the school crest on the breast pocket, but, say, blue or gray slacks and white or blue shirt. Shoes and socks.

The reality is that we all behave differently when we are in uniform - even the suit uniform of the business world. We walk differently, we sit differently, we address other people differently when we are in some kind of uniform.

I remember once strolling in a shopping center around lunch time, and there were young boys with their buggy pants, and dark sweats or t-shirts, and some packs and, honestly, not being around high school kids at that time, I was a bit apprehensive whether they were gang members, or something.

Having school uniforms would make it easy on both parents and kids that they won't be under pressure to dress in the last fashion, to literally keep up with the young Jonses.

Sure, kids like to express themselves in their cloths and jewelery. Fine, they can do it after school.

31. LOL! Well, a guy friend of mine was so disgusted by the...
stripper clothes that his wife was buying their daughter (did you know that you can buy spandex for five-year-olds???) that he threatened to install a pole in the living room, so that little Katie would have a head start on her career.

LOL! I loved it! Did it temper his wife's shopping choices for the daughter? Hell no! The child STILL wears spandex, feather-boa-trimmed off-the-shoulder shirts, and faux leather ass-crack pants. She wants to be like Britney!

She looks like a prostitutelet.

35. Well, the mom's mom...the child's grandmother...also buys slut clothes...
for the child.

IT's sad to me, because the mom had her first abortion when she was 12. Her mother let her run wild, with guys twice her age. When she was 12, she was pregnant by a 21 year old guy.

So, with that in the family history, you would think that they would do anything to steer Katie away from a similar fate.

Need I say that I've distanced myself from this family? It wasn't just the child's dress, it was the mother's attempt to "live" through her children and the extraordinary pressure she put on them to be "popular." Parents like that infuriate me, and trying to talk to the mom was pointless, because she accused me of being jealous that my son wasn't as "popular."

It's a messed up, crazy world, redqueen.
