Poll question: Drink, choke, strangle, or....
I asked a co-worker to pull some checks for the auditors (I'm not in charge this year) and she told me that she had. She is in charge of the files but still I ask nicely. I went into the file room with one of the auditors....she had told me that she had pulled the whole list and that the list I gave her was sitting on top of them.... great I thought....I walk into the file room to fund the list sitting on top of XXXX amount of vendor files....the WHOLE file not the checks that had been listed.

And to top it off they were the files from the wrong year so as I went down the list not only did I have to go pull the file and check that MATCHED the list I also had to refile the miss-pulled files.

Thank you for your attention.

6. I recommend
CONTROLLED INSANITY as a management technique....

The nice thing is that you only have to use it once or twice....a high-decibel, profanity-laced, red-faced, demeaning rant is usually enough to discourage carelessness, incompetence, stupidity, and the ever-present "I don't give a damn" attitude.

2. That is why I will never manage
Back in the day I used to have shit like that happen to me and I would go home and drink, smoke, and want to strangle. Now, I do my job, relax, and enjoy much lower blood pressure. I hate having to wonder all the time "just how fucking stupid are you?", or, "why in the hell are you sabotaging me, 'cuz ain't no one that stupid?"

Deep breaths.

4. YEs indeed
see how calm I am?

Not actually management this is a co-worker who really is a level below me and another person but we don't act like it. We don't worry about position in this department ... except for my boss who makes sure we know that she is our boss though no one can figure out what exactly it is that she does or is supposed to do for that matter.

5. As I said before, save the strangulation for a day
when you really need it! And warn the co-worker that this is now your new method of dealing with her and she may not have any more screw ups!
