2. Well, lots of things...
Heavy rain, Leaves, Metal, Concrete, Thick Plaster... All depends on how much of each.

Glass with the metalized coatings too.

3. trees in leaf, heavy clouds, rain or snow
and out of control mullets.

If you have a mullet you may wish to elevate the satellite receiver above your head or move it to a new location.

4. If you put the dish outside, things that will knock out your service are:
heavy rain

really big, thick clouds with lots of moisture

heavy snow

I lose my service for a few hours two or three times a year in Boston, MA.

could the ledge from the window above mine be blocking the signal? could the air conditioner be interfering with the signal? the 50ft cable with amplifier isn't helping

6. First, plug it in,
Next, can you see the satellite? Is it in line of sight? Good. Point that sucker right at it, after you plug it in.

Also, putting milk on the dish attracts the signals, I've heard. If all else fails you can use it as a frisbee.

Good ruck.

11. I have a Sirius antennae and often think about cutting the cable
and playing haki sack wit it...

No need for it since they split with AAR.

9. do you work in a high rise neighborhood?
if so, the signals aren't reaching your antenna. satellite signals have problems with tall buildings, steep valleys, canyons, etc.

in some metro areas the satellite radio providers installed relays that brought the signal to street level, but i don't know how extensively they were installed.

12. might be casting a "shadow"
try moving the antenna as far from the wall of your building as possible. your building may be reflecting the signal and messing it up.
