Exorcism is stalking me!
:scared:

Ok, I have this thing...I can NOT even listen to the commercials for the Exorcist. Come about September/October, when it starts airing all over television for Halloween, I'm constantly hiding my eyes during commerical periods and covering my ears. (I don't like the devil voice). So, I'm an unhappy camper during that time!

So why is it that now there is a new movie, the Exorsism of Rose or something like that? The commercials aren't QUITE as bad as those for the Exorcist. But I feel there is a conspiracy to frighten me...

What gives?

1. I know what you mean.
That shit is so freaky. I'm so scared of that stuff, but yet I love the movies and can't wait to see the new one. For some reason, I love to get scared.

3. At least you can watch it...
When I even try, I am haunted by the images far too long. Not worth it to me to see it at all.

I heard that after the anniversary of the Exorcist, a great many people complained to networks about running the commercials. It was the same generation of people that were scared by it when it was originally released. Don't know if this is true or not, but I can see it...those commercials are so scary!

2. I watched the first real Exorcist years ago.
I didn't sleep for months. I can't watch any of the new ones either. Not even the commercials.

4. Were you very young when you saw it?

Were all the stories about people seeing it in theaters, true?
I heard people were fainting, vomiting, running from the theater, etc.

I was too young to see it in theaters upon initial release, not that I wanted to see it.

The very first time it aired on television (CBS, I think) a family member couldn't wait to use their new toy, a vhs recording system and taped The Exorcist. Yeah--we watched it, as a family.

By each commercial, we were all sitting under each other we were so scared. I didn't sleep afterwards either.

Still can't handle the sound of the bed bangining against the floor.
:wow:

5. Yeah, I was very young.
I saw it at a drive inn. I heard the stories also...pregnant women losing their babies and such. The hype was amazing. It brought in the whole era of "there is no such thing as bad publicity"....and scared a lot of children in the process.

6. Somehow I think it would be MUCH scarier at the drive-in...
...just being outside, kind of in the open. Wow! That must have really been scary!

I saw it at home, on the couch--even though that didn't help much. LOL!

There was some great publicity for that movie. I tried to overcome my fear to a degree and watched the E! True Hollywood Story of The Making of the Exorcist. Wow... Lots of crazy kinds of thing happened around that production. It's a wonder it was made at all.

Same with the Omen. Though for some reason, that one doesn't scare me as much.
