I don't want to go to this funeral. I don't wan't to see a strong man brought low by cancer. I'm lost.

2. I'm so sorry

Going to funerals has been hell for me; alot of my friends have passed on. I've skipped a few, too; the pain over their deaths was too much for me to relive at that moment. And I drank, too.

I don't know what to say except there are alot of great people here you can vent with; watch the drinking though, please. This is coming from somebody who spent a good portion of his 20's and 30's in a Bukowski-like stupor.

Good luck.

6. Sounds like you have a good reason to get blasted....
You will pull yourself together for the funeral... because his family needs to see you there. You will be strong for your uncle, because he needs it from you. Strong men are brought low from cancer every day... there is no shame in it.... it is a shame that our "Greatest Medical Services In The Whole Wide World" is ' virtually powerless' against this foe.

You will wake up feeling crappy, so take some vit. C and B vit's tonight. Lots of water now and in the AM.

You need to be strong.
Those around you need your strength.

All the Best,
Gina

10. Thanks everyone!
Absinth

"sin" is in the middle...

Hugh was a total alcoholic and was found in a horrid state dead for over a week and only discovered due to the smell...

All the friends are feeling guilty about what could have been done. For me this is just another in a long line of narco/booze related death. 8 out of 8 all younger than 46.

So it would be nice to live to be 66 and get cancer.

9. Stop hitting the bottle! I know when I have gone through devastation .. .
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 02:38 AM by LaPera
Alcohol left me feeling even more depressed...It's a depressive drug...Stop the circle...My thoughts will truly be with you. I am very sorry to hear what you are going through.

I am also aware that what I saying is not enough, but, I'm telling you the bottle will only make things worst.

You've got to somehow face the reality WITHOUT the booze, not to sound cold...because I'm not trying to, by any means...It's just that the pain is indeed overwhelming and must be faced clearly, to move on, which you should, and WILL.

It's very hard! I know!

I write this with all sincerity and as much respect and support as I'm allowed...

I have nothing against alcohol, per'se... Except, perhaps, in certain times that I (and others) have been through and you are going through now.

11. dont worry.
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 01:59 AM by LastKnight
things will turn out for the better, i promise. in june i had 2 friends kill themselves within a week of each other, and then had a boss die of a heart attack, he was a cool guy even though we had our differences. and the two friends were within a month of me agewise. we graduated together. i would talk with one of them every day or so until college, then we lost track of each other. the other i hung out with now and then.

but ya know... stuff is ok now. it took awhile but stuff is gettin back to normal.

things will get better, dont worry. they did for me, they will for you. it may not seem like it now, but they will. i promise.

14. S.O.B.E.R. =
Son Of A Bitch--Everything's Real! (Words of wit from one of the clients at work).

Sometimes dulling the pain in a few drinks helps, but just don't let it go on too long or it becomes a problem as you well know.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.
