7. I spend so much time reading stuff here..

I didn't see how I could go without donating something. I just graduated from college and don't have a good job yet, but I figured that if I could afford to rent movies and buy beer on the weekends, then I could easily afford to donate $10 to DU.

Also made my first political campaign contribution by donating to Clark's campaign, and I plan to donate to whoever the eventual Democratic nominee is, as well.

Unfortunately I did not vote in the recent election here, which I do actually feel bad about.

Apparently, Freemire beat Hutchinson in a huge upset primarily because of Hutchinson's declaration as a Democrat and a strong local voting block of Republican loyalists. Ugh, to think that that might be the only real reason a long-term incumbent mayor lost her position...

I guess I haven't lived here long enough to know anything about local politics in the QC (I moved to Iowa with my parents about 7 years ago and 5 of those years were spent in Iowa City at U of Iowa).

Anyway nice to see another fellow Quad City area resident on DU! :hi:
