Oxycontin demons took my brother's life this week

It is with great sadness that I write this post. My brother has been fighting his own drug war for years. The drug demons overcame him this week and he took his own life.

I am filled with sadness but have been expecting something like this to happen for a long time. Our family has tried over and over and over to help him recover. It was a losing battle.

My he now rest in peace.

And now, a last note to him, " I love you, little brother."

I know the terrible frustration and pain of losing a younger brother to addiction. My brother died in 2001.

It was so sad to see a bright and handsome man overtaken in mind and body. We all did our best to help, but the drug was more powerful.

Your brother is free from the pain and the madness at last. No more hospitals, no more emergencies.

It's never easy to lose a loved one. It seems somehow even more devastating to family members when they lose someone to addiction and drugs--as they always think "If only I_______" (fill in the blank).

Sadly, with drugs and addiction, there's only so much a family can do.

Little brother was 54, but to me he was always the little one I protected at home and at school. I'll deal with the grief and go on. Right now I just need time to mourn his loss. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for you kindness.
