Poll question: Jumpin'est New Wave/80s Pop Song:
Seriously, all these are undeniably hook-laden, but which one is THE catchiest, crank it in the car on a summer day-est one of all?

1. I can't get Human League's "Fascination" out of my head!
Same goes with a number of other cool songs that weren't on your list. But, I like most of the acts on your list even if I haven't heard all the songs you mention.

The 80's (at least until about 1987) were just an INCREDIBLE time for top-40 radio. The music industry was willing to take so many chances because the whole medium was stagnant in the late 70's and something new was needed. I think that just maybe we could be in for that kind of renaissance again in the next few years. One can only hope.

9. Don't knock The Knack!
Their first album is a classic example of skinny-tie New Wave. Interesting trivia: Fieger originally wrote "Good Girls Don't" for Johnny Cash.

My own vote goes to "This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide" by The Kings.

Now on with Casey's Countdown.

15. My Sharona sucks
It is a terrible song. There's a wealth of material written in the 80s. I just don't get the fascination with MS.

16. I guess we must agree to disagree.
All I know is, "My Sharona" beat the hell out of the mindless, trilly disco pap that glutted the airwaves back in the fall of 1978.
