Poll question: Name my Medieval Restaurant
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 03:42 AM by corarose
I need help naming a fictitious Restaurant for my Menu Planning Class. I also need help finding a picture of a Wench serving food or drinks back in Medieval Times.
My last name is British and I am going to have a British Themed Restaurant.

What would you serve and what would you call it. The food has to be edible and the name has to match the theme.

1. Ye Olde Chowe Downe.
Don't do the Dickens one--wrong era.

Ditto for Twelfth Night.

How about "The Meading Place"--or is that more of a pub?

6. How 'bout "Serf's Up"? "Ye Olde Turnip Shacke"? "Chaucer's Saucer"?
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 03:33 AM by 0rganism
"Serf's Up": an affordable seafood joint near the coast.

Or "Ye Olde Turnip Shacke": mostly vegetarian faire at that one.

Or "Chaucer's Saucer": all those wierd brit foods I can't stand, like Haggis, bangers, head cheese, sweetmeats, and sheep's balls in plum sauce.

edit - Actually, now that I think of it, the third idea has the most potential. I'd pick out "theme combo meals" based on different narrative characters in Canterbury Tales. You can only imagine what's on the Pardoner's Platter...

Refers to the uniform of British Soldiers sent to crush Irish rebels in this century. Totally inappropriate and no one of Irish ancestry would go there.

77. No the mix of
Harp and Guiness (or a lager and a stout) so that the lager sits on the bottom and the guiness stays on top giving a black and tan appearance.

Not sure if the black and tan nick was an Irish one or an English one....tho Harp and Guiness do come from the same Irish brewery.

There's the piercing yep, but other things too...there's the old "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" joke, and so much of English food tastes like it came out of a can. Plus it just sounded like a pub name (provided you could lose the imagery of a real Prince Albert). I could, but only for a second. It was too much to fight off.
