Classic rock one-hit wonder songs?
I have a gift certificate for some iTunes downloads. I usually download a bunch of songs and then end up buying the whole album anyways, so that's why I'm asking for some one-hit wonder song recommendations..Any ideas? :)

1. Mr. Mr. - "Book of Love" - Patrick Swayze-"She's Like the Wind"
Edited on Fri Aug-26-05 11:57 AM by WeRQ4U
Not sure if that is classic rock (80's) but it's getting close.

ANd they're both one hit wonders and both kinda shitty.

5. '60s -'80s
My style--I have pretty much everything by The Beatles (as well as each solo)/Billy Joel/Elton John/Simon and Garfunkel, alot of Paul Simon/Tom Petty/Steve Miller Band/Led Zeppelin..

I like most of the songs you'd hear on a classic rock radio station..

Free - "All Right Now"
Derek & the Dominos -"Layla"
Chambers Brothers- 'Time"
Deep Purple - "Hush"
Mountain -" Mississippi Queen"
Leon Russell - "Stranger in a Strange Land"

to name a few..........sure, all of these people had other well known albums...but are mainly known by basically 1 song (to the general public)

33. Beleive it or not, they are still around.
Released a great album in 2003, which went nowhere. They're from Detroit and still play in that area.

That is one of the greatest power pop tunes ever. Tell it to Carrie is good too, there last hit was "Talking In Your Sleep."

37. they were a kick ass band!
i think the one knock against them is that they came across as a hair/tenny bopper band. i saw them in concert once and they spent alot of time in between songs making the little girls in the audience squeal.

25. Maybe You Meant "Mississippi QUEEN"?
And, they had two other hits, of a minor nature. (Theme from an Imaginary Western and Nantucket Sleighride.)

The Aldo Nova song, though, you are right on target. Not a bad song, either.

30. thanks, Professor. Trying to conjure the lyrics to half-rate rock isn't
my strength. Not sure what my strength is, actually. Aldo Nova reminds me of another, though: Billy Thorpe's "Children of the Sun" or some such thing. Am I close?

28. "Rock me Gently" by Andy Kim
Rock Me Gently
Andy Kim

Ain't it good
Ain't it right
That you are with me
Here tonight
The music playin'
Our bodies swayin' in time
(In time, in time, in time)

Touching you
So warm and tender
Lord, I feel such a sweet surrender
Beautiful is the dream that makes you mine

Mmm
Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

Baby baby

Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

Oh my darlin'
Oh my baby
You got the moves that drive me crazy
And on your face I see a trace of love
(Of love, of love, of love)

Come hold me close
Don't let me go
I need you, honey
I love you so
You were made for me by the stars above

Oooh
Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

And baby baby!
Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

Ain't it good
Ain't it right
That you are with me
Here tonight

Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

Baby baby!
Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

(Hit of 1974)

Call out the instigator
Because there’s something in the air
We’ve got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution’s here

And you know it’s right
And you know that it’s right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now
