What is the truest, blue-est DU-est cell phone provider out there?
After years of indifference I am now seeing the utility of those damn things. But I want to avoid kickin' in for Tom DeLay's legal fund (Verizon I'm looking at you)

So DU what's my best option?

Next question: I live in MN, but travel frequently about the upper Midwest--which one has the widest coverage?

4. Branson seems pretty liberal... VMobile is great for me!
I have had a Virgin Mobile for almost three months now and have not used up my initial $25 pre-pay! I knew I rarely used my cell, and not that I think twice before just calling randomly, my bill for the year will probably be about $120, plus $60 for the phone. Compared to $35 a month... Plus, I don't really sweat losing it, because at worst, I'm out the prepay amount and the cost of the phone.

If only they had the Razor! (Actually, the reception with Virgin is much better than my old Cingular phone -- I'm not sure who actually provides VM's bandwidth though.)

5. That's what I thought as well - Branson seems more lib than conservative..
I've had Virgin for a couple of years now and have had no complaints.

3. I have both a Virgin Mobile and a Cingular phone
Yeah, I know, Cingular/ATT is likely not very blue...not sure about Virgin Mobile.

I have great coverage with both in the midwest. Only place I cannot get a signal with the Cingular box is in Rio Wisconsin (about 12 miles northeast of Portage).

Virgin Mobile does not do contracts, so it is pay as you go, you need to put $20 in your account every 90 days.

I don't need it often, but when you need it, you need it.

13. it's pretty good
I've had mine about a year - I think it averages out to about 15-20 bucks per month or so, maybe less. I do end up using it more than I planned, however. ;)

11. T-Mobile in the Twin Cities had some overbilling issues about a year ago
Not sure if all the customers got credited or not, but there was a huge expose about it on one of the local news outlets.

8. I have no idea of coverage...
... or costs, but Working Assets has a wireless plan, and it's quite blue:

NFI, and, sorry, I don't do cell phone, so I can't comment on quality of service.
